   I checked the web site and it says that Paragon Drive Backup is supported on Windows Vista x64, but when I run the msi it tells me that "Drive Backup 9 Professional does not work under this OS"

   What gives?

   First of all, it counts what is stated in the blurb of the GOTD.
   Of course you may try what ever you want.
   Several people have already mentioned this discrepancy and even a possible solution in the comments. Furthermore you could ask the developer under:
