   One of my computers picked up a virus which I removed but since then I can't get on the internet. I thought it was a bad modem but the modem works fine on this computer. The connection is OK but the websites are being blocked. There is a message on the bottom of the screen which says something like
   res.ieframe.dlldnserver.diagoff

   Should I remove Internet Explorer 7 and reinstall?

   Any other suggestions?

   I personally think so. The virus probably corrupted/modified one of your dlls so that you can't visit the websites. I would also run System File Checker so that the official files gets restored if the virus has modified them. Go to Run, and then type in "sfc /scannow".

   So I should replace IE7 and then run the scan?

   Hi Terri218,you could try winsockfix just google It
   I had the same error a couple of years ago and this fixed It within minutes.
   Thats If GMMan suggestion doesnt do the Job first.

   Of course I can't google it because my computer won't connect to Google at the moment LOL. Anyway I'm turning off this computer now and going to the other one to try to fix the problem. I'll let you know what happens.

   I'm not quite sure how to uninstall IE. When I go to the Add/Remove programs and the computer components window, it shows IE at 0.0m. I think it's just the shortcut. Do I run a search and delete from there?

   I think you can do it on the regular Add/Remove programs, unless you're running Vista. Then, you'd have to try to get IE 8. Does Windows Update work? You might as well try that too.

   Do a system restore, do it from the windows disk by booting it in the cd rom drive, works a heap better.

   That could work as well, though most of the time System Restore doesn't do everything, and sometimes even delete files that you've created with some programs (for example, it happened once with my photos downloaded through Kodak EasyShare; good thing the system stored a copy in its Volume Information folder).

    I've spent all afternoon looking for my discs for that computer. Would you believe I found a bunch of 5 1/2" floppy back-ups for a computer I had 20 years ago but can't find where I put the stuff for the current computer. I'm too tired now to deal with it anymore.

    dnserver if not work IE & Firefox not work but you can try allso firewall may stop fist check cmd > ' nslookup ' ' netstat -b 5 ' ' netstat -arnbe ' ' ipconfig /all '
    cmd is the command Prompt so fist tip is nslookup & hit Enter as for netstat -b 5 you get a txt of 5 minutes in C:Drive you don't say if it XP IE7 is bad on xp take off then run "sfc /scannow". all ok you can put back no files for IE7 on XP disk only IE6
    System Restore save lot of work may be try fist & Spyware check allso micrsoft got boot floppy's 6 of may help for XP not Vista see if you can find a disk my PC man gave me a disk for free or some one may let you do a small job with the disk only get a yes or no.

    It's fixed! I had to do a system restore from the first screen but it worked. Now I just have to recustomize everything to the way I want it but at least my files are still on there and I can access the internet.

    It's possible that you still had some malware on your computer and that it wasn't the original virus still causing the problem. I had something similar happen to my son's computer. Had to download FireFox on a separate computer, copy it over using a USB drive, then use it to get on the Internet. Was able to download and install AdAware which then removed the malware. Glad you got it fixed.
