Giveaway of the Day Forums

   I registered on the day of the giveaway. I checked the about screen and it said registered to: giveawayoftheday

   Today, when I opened up the app it acted like I never registered. It asks me to buy the program. And I would like to have a key from you guys because this is so not cool.

   I haven't deleted or modified the registry, nor have I deleted any files associated with the app. Can I please get some help here?

   You didn't happen to update (or automatically download an update to the latest version)?

   I just checked their site.

   and they report

   Version:
   1.8 NEW

   Last Update:
   1 March 2007

   I'm guessing that the GOTD supplied key (as they stated in the Terms & Conditions) won't work with future versions.

   I have the version GOTD gave me, 1.6

   Not sure then - can you check the registration registry keys are still intact.

   I just installed AltDesk 1.6 again to check - and it still works ok. So it doesn't appear to be anything that GOTD or Altdesk have done with expiring codes etc.

   I have seen this happen on occasions (like once every 3 months or so). And I think what happens is that Windows sometimes dumps the registry which is loaded in RAM. I am not sure, but it might happen when the Windows Desktop (Explorer shell) crashes and reloads. Setting a System Restore Point before and after activation should help protect you. And/or using the free ERUNT would even be better.
