Problems with Advance Windows

I have read every post in forums and tried to research why I cant get this program to validate. I have reinstalled this program 15 times followed every direction I could find but to no avail I still cant get this program registered. Here is the message on the error log that I keep getting:

    Exception Type=EConvertError
Error Message='$Ty' is not a valid integer value

Would anyone know what possibly could be the problem? I am running Windows Xp home. Pent.4 Celeron 1.7
    40 gig hd
    1 gig memory

I tried to install it using IE7 and Firefox.
It looks like a coding error. when I looked at the page source on line 47 it says my browser doesnt support this. Whatever that means!!!
If there is anyone that could shed some light as to what I could do I would greatly appreciate it. This is a great program and I really want it. One more thing it does say activation sucessful
Thanks GOTD you guys are great.

    Thanks,
    Julie

  2. Open the program click options and about and see if it's registered to giveawayoftheday and has a serial.

If it has a serial copy and paste it to note pad and save it.

Uninstall the program and clean up all temp files and other junk, reboot reinstall program and enter username and serial.

Thanks Lee for getting back to so soon. I did check the about and it says its the free program.. Do you have a serial # you could tell me? I did have any problems with HDD the other day, I dont know why this program is giving me fits.

    Thanks,
    Julie

  4. Cannot.

The free program does not require a serial.

    The one here does.

Be honest I used the free one for sometime and I don't really find much difference.

i cant get mine to validate either.. it wants me to buy the program.. I did the scan and it did find problems but won't fix any of them without purchasing the product. So what is the advantage to using the free trial version? I too am wondering if there is a validation code?

    Thank you,

HI Lee.. why when I run the program does it require me to buy it then before it will fix any problems? What am I missing here? I cannot register it without purchasing or a license code.

    Thank you,
    Debbie Holmberg

Correct I am a moderator, I don't offer technical support, only to the best of my knowledge.

I copied and pasted what they have displayed at their website.

I have also made recommendations to better freeware.

Which as mentioned it has 1 difference, written at their website.

If you think you can do better 'bobby' then please email slava and tell him you have better credentials.

I am here to remove nasty stuff, like profanity, racism, religious bigotry, porno, goatse, cracks warez and key generator links & anything else that should not be displayed.

The site is for 0- E aged users, not everyone likes abuse.

  10. It's obvious I gave you two examples to compare & contrast both versions.

I cannot believe they let you moderate this forum.. you cannot give a person a straight answer..

    How sad,

  12. For those who obviously can't or WON'T read -- the only difference is -- that the pro version can be set to do the tasks automatically. You actually have to run the free version yourself.

    Sheesh!

I am having the same problem as Frank and others in the spyware thread.

I checked in Help about, shows that it is properly registered to GOD. My last update was Feb 27.

I tried to update the Infection Definition Database and I get "Your subsciption license has expired! Please click here to renew your license and get full function." So I guess as far as that database is concerned we cannot update it? Are we getting fully licensed programs or just partially working, after the install day, programs?
Would it be better to get the free version of it then? Does the free version allow updating of the database?

    Lee,

I think you are mistaken about there being only a single difference, based on the feature list. The trial version has _elements_ of all the features mentioned, but not the entire scope. For instance, the free and trial versions both locate temporary files, but only the paid version removes them.

The big disappointment is that the version made available here had seemed to have most features of the paid version initially and lost them after three days. Since most comments are made in the first days, the satisfaction rating is probably way off base. The way the reversion works to benefit the developer makes one have to wonder whether this was a deliberate misrepresentation on its part.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  16. srdiamond you are right.

I was making reference to their list.

Personally, I think the software should be freeware, as I would not pay for it myself.

I did get a clue that the software might be tat, when I saw their templated website.

I had no problems installing and registering this software, until this morning, when it suddenly showed up as being the trial version. I'm not sure what happened nor do I know if this can be fixed since it's way past the time it was offered for free, but boy, is it annoying. Any ideas on what might have happened?

    Clobermier,

The program reverts to trial in three days, a conclusion based on the consistency of reports, not on any disclosure by the developer. Obviously, that makes this particular giveaway a scam.

My question is Will GOTD allow iobit to scam us? Or will they complacently deny that a scam has been perpetrated, with GOTD's inadvertent complicity, simply because no money has changed hands? But it almost certainly has! No doubt some customers were successfully persuaded to make the purchase. Will GOTD let iobit get away with this?

That's a good question. Lets see what GOTD think of us - and what we'll think of GOTD if they don't fulfill their advert.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  20. Actually the one who really stands to lose is iobit... word of mouth, and search engines that keep picking up the terms "iobit" and "Advanced Windows Cleaner" will possibly draw potential customers to this site who are looking for a "review" or "feedback" on the "service" offered to their users. Personally as a result I would not "purchase" or "recommend" anything now as a result from iobit. I'll be recommending to others to look for alternatives.

Stuff like the tools at http://www.macecraft.com

such as "Regsupreme Pro" or "jv16 Powertools 2006" are IMO much better and have been around a lot longer also.

Maybe GOTD could interest them in offering these as an improvement over what we are left with now for those who installed AWC.

  21. You can still get their tools before they started charging.

    Reg cleaner and Powertools.

Free at this link older versions that don't need money, they are free.

jv16 powertools & reg cleaner -> http://321download.com/LastFreeware/ look at top and left of page as you look at screen, links for download on left.

    Free for everyone.

Plenty to keep anyone looking for freeware happy till they turn blue in the face.

  22. also a slightly different format - (multiple old version - fewer products)

    http://www.oldversion.com/

The emphasis is on making old versions available - but where commercial software is involved - the licensing is still the responsibility of the customer (eg: the site does have old versions of unregistered shareware and commercial software as well as freeware).

    debholmberg...

Did you not consider that Lee may not have had the time to re-answer what he had already clearly stated.... before you got rude???

It's up to members to run searches to find out if questions have already been asked and answered - not the responsibility of ANY moderator on ANY forum to answer the same question over and over again, nor should it be expected.

Your question was answered DIRECTLY above your post.... and the explanation was crystal clear.

Lee posted that there was "Really only 1 difference." and if you just take the time to read what is written above that notation the "one difference" is obvious. In the list of the free features it says... 100% freeware, in the list of paid features it says... install it and forget it. The rest of the features in BOTH lists are identical.

Could this have been any clearer??!

Think of the few seconds it would have taken you to show some initiative and look for the answer yourself first (as you're supposed to on ANY forum) as opposed to the time wasted asking an already answered question AND then further insulting a moderator.

    Now THAT is sad.

    Other posters...

regarding this program... I find AWC2 Pro to be helpful. I d/l and activated it without problem, however, DID find that it reverted to the trial version after a few days, so I just went to the "about" area and copied the "License to:" & "License Code:" info and pasted them to register the Pro version. After that it restarted as Advanced WindowsCare V2 Professional (version 2.4.0.795) and haven't had a problem since.

It may just be that since I didn't run into problems with the initial activation that this method has worked for me...?? Not sure. But it may be worth a shot.

And just to be clear (without divulging any serial information here).... I did NOT change the "License to:" name and replace it with my own. I just copied and pasted what was shown in the "about" area word for word.

May help.... or you could always send a question over to the AWC people.

    cheers

I too have experienced the problem of trying to automatically update the database. I have managed to get an update by manually downloading the file and moving it into the program area. I found the link to the file in the FAQ section on the support page, given in response to a question about not being able to update automatically.

The location of the file, according to my download manager, was
    http://www.iobit.com/files/Ref.dbd
if anyone is interested in persevering with this program.

I too, have an issue with Advance Care V2 Pro. I have installed it on many computers, running either Windows 2000 or Windows XP Pro. After a period of time, I get
"Your subsciption license has expired! Please click here to renew your license and get full function." message.
I do grab the latest Ref.dbd file, but this seems like a stupid way around something that is supposed to be Fully licensed!!!!!

You can run it right? You just can't update it.

  28. I found after trying the software it made my system slow up.

Spybot Search & Destroy did half the job, blocking bad websites and crap cleaner the other cleaning out my system and sorted some registry problems.

After going back to prior Advanced WindowsCare my system was back in shape.

My advice is blow Advanced WindowsCare out and never return to using it again, try the alternatives I mentioned (freeware).

I can run the program, but can not update it. This is the answer that I received when I posted on the IObit forum:

the program on Giveitawayoftheday.com is not the official edition of AWC v 2.4, please wait for the official edition.

  30. This application seems more trouble than it's worth.

I am sure it came with a 6 month licence.

At least it should be able to connect with the authors server for that period of time and give you updates.
