I downloaded the latest GOTD which is the FTPGetter installed it and activated it but it would not register it's one of those registering procedures where you have to insert a file into the program if after doing this the program still showed '15 day trial period'

huh? What has donating to interclue got to do with FTPGetter? LOL. (I'm sure interclue would appreciate the cash all the same).
baseman, You may find that the program isn't "closing" but only minimizing to the taskbar notification area - or the FTPGetter service is still running. Try a reboot. This technique is guaranteed to close the program. When you restart the program - the license file should be recognised.

Rebooting won't help him out if he set the program to run at Windows boot =P (which is checked by default if he didn't go the service route).
But baseman, trust me on this one. You really are not missing out on much if you don't get this software to work.
As for interclue...I'm with Bubby - what are you talking about hotdoge?

To get the program to recognise the license file you need to stop and RESTART the program. For users who cannot work out how to do this - restarting windows is the easiest way. If the program automatically restarts with windows, then this is exactly the outcome you want.

Shouldn't someone point out that the licence file has to go in a very specific folder? And that not everyone knows about this location.
It needs to go in the program DATA folder, not the Program Files folder itself. Not a lot of people traverse those regions. In Vista it's c:\ProgramData\FTPGetter\. In XP... similarly.
BTW, what's happened to the accessibility of all the FTPg comments?

Why? They are still there - just go to the FTPGetter giveaway page and after the first 3 comments is a link - something like "View all comments" to see the rest.
