The most common problem I read about by GAOTD users or customers is missing the opportunity to experience their "Giveawayoftheday" (GAOTD) download for various legitimate issues or problems which can make the overall experience very frustrating rather than satisfying. Obviously software developers/vendors want to sell their products to end users if downloading users consider the software valuable to use, enough to justify parting with their hard earned cash. If I like software enough and the price or deal is good then I usually buy it.
It would be useful if GAOTD users could register their email addresses for downloads on the GAOTD site which would provide software developers/vendors with a more reliable target audience and interested marketing target. At the same time, downloads attached to a login could allow registered GAOTD users to download and reinstall previously downloaded software packages that might have been corrupted/uninstalled/imaged over etc etc without 24hrs time being a dreaded factor working against the user. One could argue that users would never register software, I beg to differ because I want support/upgraded or later versions and to own it anyway if I find it useful, like it and value it. Today developers/vendors may have the numbers on the people who download and try their software through GAOTD but no real idea who is using it or wants to buy it.
I see this as a win win to give the potential customers more accessibility to download and install GAOTD software at any time whilst also providing the developers/vendors businesses with more customer focused targeted sales leads.
Just a thought.
