I followed their recipe and made a self-starting USB-stick. At the moment I am running chromebook on an old Acer Aspire 5520 W10 64 Pro laptop. I can access all files on both the SSD and the old hard drive (now in the drawer where the DVD-player used to be). So I can use it to save important files from a non-starting Windows machine.
As I have logged in under the same Gmail-account I use on my real chromebook, I have all my mail, bookmarks and add-ins at my disposal. Only the timezone was wrong because I was in Los Angeles virtually. Now I am back in Amsterdam.
I tried it on a desktop first and suddenly the mouse became very slow. So the emulator is not yet perfect. I have to find out if this version will be updated automatically like chromebook itself. I now have Version 44.0.2403.157, Platform 44.1.9.
