Anyone else with this error? or any sugestions Please
If it helps at all, & in case there are more people having problems, Flash Drive Recovery runs fine in my XP Pro SP3 & win10 64 VMs. In XP Pro Process Explorer [SysInternals] shows it using msvcr90.dll -- in win10 it only uses Windows\ SysWOW64\ msvcrt.dll [v. 7.0.10130.0]. In both cases it uses Internet Explorer. There are no c/c++ runtimes included in the setup package, nor are there any runtime files in the program's folder.
It *might* be that a compatible version of the Microsoft c/c++ runtimes is not installed, or it might be a problem, e.g. some sort of conflict with some process or app that's running, that causes that error message. Depending on how much trouble you want to go to...
You can check Windows Control Panel -> Programs & Features in win7, & that will show you the runtimes that have been installed using Microsoft's setup programs -- newer versions of Windows are similar -- this will probably not include c/c++ runtime files that were added without using Microsoft's installers. If you want to try [re]installing one or more of the runtimes there's a list here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003
Note: Always check Windows Update after installing one of these runtimes, particularly if the installation was part of a program install.
Alternatively, &/or if that doesn't work, maybe the easiest way to find a conflict is to stop every non-essential app, process, or service from running [one or a few at a time so that you have an idea where the problem lies]. TO do that you might try & use Task Mgr, or Process Explorer, the Services app in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools, or Msconfig.
