Firefox 3.0 RC1 is out.

(16 posts)

  1. Firefox 3.0 has had the first Release candidate made available on their website. If you are currently running a beta of Fox3 - this might be handy to know.

Note the software is still being tested and regardless how stable people tell you a piece of software is - using a Beta or a RC build on a production or live system - you accept that there are most likely still problems with the program. (ie. If you are going to test - make a backup, and don't do it on a live/production/business system).

Funny you should mention this. Just last night I downloaded Firefox for the first time ever, and I LOVE it. I noticed the Beta of 3.0, but I went with the regular version 2.0.0.14, as I will let others be the guinea pigs.

The add-ons for Firefox are great. I may never fire up the IE7 again.....

    Thanks BuBBy!

I am running Minefield as a portable version(next to the regular version 2.0.0.14)
I suppose my Minefield (build 2008051606) will eventually update to the RC1...
    -Edit-
It seems I have to replace Minefield if I want to use the RC1.

As interesting a proposition that is, I think I will also wait till the final version is released before upgrading.

I too prefer Firefox but split equally with IE7 (through necessity with certain websites). I find Firefox much faster with the upload of webpages, especially images. And the add ons/customisation make the browser very appealing.

I have been using Firefox since version 1.0, but I will wait to get the final version 3 of Firefox when it is released... but only after my favorite and most used add-ons are also updated to work with it.

Best to check your loved add-ons version compatibility before jumping to it.

BuBBy, thanks for the tip. I, too, will wait until there's a final version. I've used Firefox since it came out and love it, but also have their 'add on' to view in IE if needed. Certain programs won't download upgrades, etc., unless it is in IE, but other than that I ONLY use Firefox. It's much, much safer than IE is.

funkymom........mmmmmm a mystery? "something to do with my dead newt"? messed it up! sigh....superglue,wood glue, perhaps i should bury it as its brittle after all those years in my pocket, it may have lost a wee bit of its tail, still it still has all its legs!

copmom is wondering, didn't that newt stink up Paulga's pocket?? Or have you forgotten about it and run it through a load of wash or two?

  14. I thought "newt" was cremated in Alien III. Don't tell Ripley you have her in your pocket Paulga!

as BuBBy said "it was nothing...really".......didn't show so to speak! sort of like that old lace hanky! that used to smell of perfume, nothing there.

copmom....your kind of close! it went on the line and faded away in the wash?
i love a mystery......could have been worse only BuBBy used the bleach?
