since you know so much about games... I wondered if you happen to know about Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri, and if it's got a more modern version than ( I believe ) 98...?
mine wont really play properly on my xp anymore... (never did... no idea why really)
so.. any ideas?

Thanks BuBBy, I have Alpha Centauri, but not played it in years. The patch has now been downloaded and I may even crack open the crystal case and re-install the game as the civilization series was always one of my favorite's back in the 90's. Though I've not got the latest releases of civilization. My last purchase was Call to Power which I think is equivalent to Civilization II and was released in 2000
p.s. freebird, I wouldn't call myself an expert, I just love playing games and have a very large collection. I don't know much about many of the DOS based games as I rarely bought them apart from titles such as f19 and of course the original civilization. I never owned a console style computer (apart from a recently purchased Wii) so missed a whole generation of fantastic games, though thanks for the accolade, lol.

BuBBy -- Thank you for posting the website with the patch. I recently bought "Civilization Chronicles" but have yet to install any of the games from it. I have the original Civ I but it is not installed to this XP system, so I thought getting Civ 3 and 4 would be good updated versions for XP. When I was ordering it, I looked at my shelf of uninstalled games and found Alpha Centauri. I had forgotten all about it! Now I can install it and the patch! (Black & White as well as Riven are sitting there too, that probably will have problems running under XP too so have to find a possible patches for them as well!)
So many games to play, so little time!
