On March 1st I installed Search GT (the day it was offered) and as far as I can tell I followed all the instructions since I have successfully installed and registered other GAOTD software. Since then it has been working perfectly. Today I went to use 'Search GT' and it said 'Trial period ended'. Has anyone else encountered this? I found the program very useful and am disappointed to lose it. I am running it on Win xP Media.
    Thx

  2. same problem here (and on another post someone else had the same problem) - we probably messed up the activation somehow.

I've found a couple of alternatives that are quite good.

Super Finder at http://fsl.sytes.net/download.html#ssearch (works faster after initial search - probably indexes).

Agent Ransack at http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/download.aspx (fast without indexing as far as I can tell).

Finally DK Finder at http://www.dkellner.hu/freeware/finder/ (indexes - fast once it has - indexing is fast).

These are all freeware - different options between them but you'll probably find one you like out of the three.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi

Did you notice 'licensed to Giveaway of the day' at the bottom of SearchGT?
Or maybe a reg or system restore did ruin the activation.

  4. Hi Robert,

I think I just messed up that day (I used to download setup files from the developers sites due to the GOTD wrapper - works for the most part), but on that day I have a feeling I installed the developers download from their site after my initial install from GOTD. The setup.exe from here for GOTD users was probably a variation in the program exe. Because I overwrote it with the other install it does not accept the registration.

Now I just remove the wrapper ;-) and save the GOTD exe - problem solved. Unfortunantely I only discovered how to do this in the last 2 weeks.

Hope that makes sense - I think it will to you.

    Good to hear from you!

  6. Hi Copmom,

Unfortunately it's probably something that I should not go into (and probably should not have mentioned in the first place), I posted without thinking. I don't want to get in trouble with GOTD!

If a moderator sees this I'm hoping they'll edit that part out. Hope I haven't opened a can of worms.

    Regards,
    Damian
