    W2K...I sometimes wish I hadn't replaced it with XP.

    I still have a W2K and I'd love to work with it again.But I don't know if it's possible to make a dual boot *after* one has XP installed.
    There should be a trick to do this but I can't find the workaround anymore.

    Any help would be deeply appreciated.

    :)

    But I do still have an image of W2K ,but I guess then again I need a special entry to adjust the boot.ini file.

    IIRC, you can try the win2k bootloader that the setup installs, or look up a third-party multiboot utility, either way a boot partition image is a must, imho. I's second-OS's job to to install same and fool first-OS into seeing no change.

    w2k can be based off another local partition, fwiw.

    Thanks.Still doing some research though...before I go for it.

    Could you please post the boot.ini text lines of your W2K.
    That might help.Thanks.

    sure. here's the one from this laptop.

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
    C:\ = "Microsoft Windows"

    that's 98se, btw.
