Announcing the latest Theme thread - NATURE GALLERIAS COMPENDIUM
Please limit links to the myriad of awesome photo and artist sites highlighting the wonders of Terra and her thin biosphere: plants-wildlife-rock/earth-water-sky (sorry, no pets-oriented or human-centric pix) and please refrain from "praise only" comments, as superfluous dialogue tends to make the excellent resources more difficult to find. Contributors instinctively know you're going to enjoy the links!

Rune, some of your tags did not parse out. I repeated some of them separately but you will still need to edit them on your end.

EDIT: I can not edit your tags. You must do it yourself.

    Staffan Widstrand Photography
"Always on the look for interesting and exciting stories to tell, rather than just the single images.
And I like to tell the full story, both in text and in images.
Favourite story topics are usually subjects where man and nature meet, and the various results of it:
Nature travel, outdoor action, ecotourism, wildlife (especially large carnivores…), charismatic and often indigenous cultures, environmental issues, hunting, fishing and adventure, anywhere in the world.
    A key word is respect."

    Caution: Some graphic content.

    I just found something fantastic!

Ernst Haeckel's Die Natur als Kunstlerin (Nature as Artist). A paperback book from 1913 is a popular adaptation of Haeckel's landmark book, Kunstformen von der Natur (Art Forms in Nature) originally published in 1904. Haeckel was a biologist and an artist, and he merged both disciplines into a study of natural forms, shapes, symmetries and patterns from every aspect of the natural world.

Entire book with all 100 images in either 200 or 300 DPI or a downloadable PDF version.

    That's really fantastic.
It's worth to wait for the slow download.

At the first rains of the wet season (December) about 120 million crabs come out of hiding and start heading towards the ocean. Their numbers then increase so that 75 Trillion crabs swarm Christmas Island!

Some very nice nature photos on this site. Unfortunately, the photographer says nothing about his/herself nor much about the pictures. Nature

These little frogs are all around me and I'd never realized that this was happening to them. No one knows how they become frozen frogs and how they can thaw from the inside out or what triggers it.

The beautiful landscapes of Marius Sabo Photography are vivid and intense. His talent is not limited to only landscapes, so be sure to explore his other galleries.

Pikas are also called rock rabbits or coneys. It is also known as the "whistling hare" due to its high-pitched alarm call when diving into its burrow. The pika may look like a hamster, but is actually a cousin of the rabbit.

Graylox, you can post that wonderful site as many times as you'd like! Maybe you could somehow work it in to every thread. That might be a fun goal! Love it!

There is a problem with the Ocean View Video Production site that I posted above. Here is a link to some of David White's Ocean View Videos on Vimeo. They really are amazing! You've got to see them in full screen view.
