  1. Hi Guys,
thought you might want to know.

We have release the latest version of Image Compressor 2008.
    That is v 6.1.0.2
As promised, it should fix the file association problem and also add new recursive folder menu under Image Tray mode.

Also, Tucows has write up the review for Image Compressor.
“Must Have Application - Image Compressor 2008″
    http://www.tucows.com/article/2077

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback, especially during GAOTD day.
We can’t do this without you!

Thanks for giving us an update notice on the program!
I downloaded the trial version and *yes* the file association problem seemed to be fixed.

But Houston we still have a minor problem.

When choosing *no* file association with Imagecompressor, all existing file associations with images also disappeared.
So one has still to re-associate.

Is this a free update for GAOTD users ?

  4. Hi Robert,
when you choose to un-associate the types from Image Compressor,
the program will revert back the original association.

IMC indeed save the original association value in the registry.
    For example:
.jpg association: you can check it from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg
You will see (Default) and Old_Default.

When IMC unregister the association, it will copy back whatever value in Old_Default to
    (Default) again.

    Hi

Just to make sure that we are on the same wave length... :)

    Please double check.

I unchecked all image associations during the setup of the program.
IMHO all existing associated should have remained.

I agree that,*once IC is installed*,unchecking file ass with IC requires manual re-association.
But,as I said before, it is a *minor* problem and requires only basic user intervention.

    Kind regards ,
...and thumbs up for the new version of Image Compressor.

    The last § should read:

I agree that,*once IC is installed*,unchecking file ass with IC doesn't require manual re-association.

    Hi
Id.No updates. But that's why it is always mentioned in the 'readme',I suppose.
    So nobody is to blame...
I now am using the new, major updated version 6.1.0.2(trial 30d).
    (GAOTD version is v6.0.2.5)

I would have preferred greatly finding that this announced update was not usable to gaotd users before tangling my system up installing the trial, finding it was time limited and spending a lot of effort removing it without removing the original.

usually when developers announce an update/bug fix on the forums here it is an open upgrade for the previous version we pointed out the bugs in- perhaps a re-release for this program soon would be possible?

posted the thread on the site and by email, now to await the response.

for examples, see the starburn rerelease, Advanced Biorhythms and SafenSec, Keriver Image- not to mention magic farm, etc.

Got an unwanted mail today from this company:

    "50% Discount. One Day Sale!"
    unsubscribed and deleted the proggy

    EDIT:
After un-installation ccleaner found 307 items
and I had to delete with help of unlocker some templates in the program folder.

50% discount, only available for 24 hours on March 18th, 2008 ,right?

But I see no reason to remove a good program for 1 promotional email,as there is an option to cancel your subscription to future newsletters.

I never even downloaded the program and I too got the email "offer". I unsubscribed, but the next one will be reported as SPAM. The nerve...

Robert maybe I'm in a bad mood today, but I can't remember I subscribed to a newsletter.
As I'm doing a major "clean-up" in my program-folder, I decided that this tool was one of the "unused". I stay with JAlbum.

    Graylox,
I *agree* there should have been an opt in , prior to an opt out... :)
Could use some power cleaning up here too..

installed the trial in a different directory after backing up the registry. then uninstalled the trial- there as some untangling to do- and restored. isn't that the sensible way when unsure? I use revo uninstaller so I can judge what to remove or leave as part of the process, both reg and disc.
