Music Links - A Very Big List

I've been exploring my music bookmark over the past couple of weeks, getting lost and finding more bookmarks. So I decided to put everything together and share them with you. I know some of these have been mentioned in other threads but I wanted to put them all in one place. Hopefully, you will have more to add.

HiddenSongs.com - a comprehensive listing of hidden and unlisted tracks from albums by all types of artists (formerly known as The Hidden Song Archive). A hidden song (also known as a "ghost track" or "easter egg") is a song on an album which is not listed on the album sleeve or jacket. On a CD, usually the song is accessed by playing the final track through then going through a brief moment of silence. An unlisted track is different because the hidden song has its own track and can be directly
accessed without having to go through the previous song, it's just not listed with the other songs on the album on the back of the sleeve.

Many of us own music that we didn't pay for. We don't feel guilty about shafting the record company, but what about the musicians themselves? Here's how it works: Pick a musician, write them a letter, scan or photograph the letter and send it to 'Dear Rockers,' mail off the letter along with $5, and enjoy your new, guilt-free life.

Space Age Pop is a general and loosely based term for a music genre associated with certain American composers and songwriters in the Space Age of the 1950s and 1960s, from the dawn of hi-fi to the arrival of the Beatles. The music is not limited to a single style, and it is not always easily categorized. There are several styles that can be recognized as an influence; classical composers like Ravel and Debussy; the big bands of the 40's, and different exotic styles, such as samba, latin, and calypso jazz. Some of the music in this genre is also known as lounge music or exotica.

The Highway Speed-to-BPM Calculator will determine what speed you should drive to match a song's rhythm with the approaching stripes on a highway. The federal standard for interstate highways is 40 feet between the front of two stripes. This varies by area, but is generally around that distance. For example, if the beat per minute for a song is 140, you should drive 63.64mph to match the rhythm of Linkin Park's 'Bleed It Out.'

    You are all welcome.

MrFishy - Alas, my bookmarks are not always so organized. This was an afterthought, but for now my music folder looks better. I use the Firefox "Organize Bookmarks" feature. It's very nice, as it allows you to input a description and keywords for each link from the properties window. You can also export your bookmarks to a HTML document, Import your IE favorites and sort in a variety of different ways. It's way better than what IE has to offer.

Yeah, I only use Firefox myself (except for MS updates) and thus, have seen this feature on my bookmarks options. Wasn't sure what it did, other than make it easier to move things about. Now that I see it's possibilities, perhaps I'll delve into sorting thru the thousand(s) of sites I have already marked, but have little to no idea why!
The properties hint will surely come in handy.
    Thanks.

Maizey, awhile back I posted this MAGNATUNE site someplace else, but it belongs here, too. The music is FREE on-line, or you can buy it. Here are their TOP SELLERS, free to listen to on-line. I don't believe you even have to sign UP, or even sign ON to listen to the songs play full-length. (the scroll bar is misleading... looks like it'll be a snippet but it just keeps playing). However, if you sign up, you'll get an email about once monthly with the newest album releases and descriptions, and of course, the on-line music.

My suggestion to use Google usually works great... for example, enter this and your thread is the #1 result!

The GAOTD search engine doesn't find your site because it's the little engine that could NOT find its own butt with both hands tied behind its back! Before my post, the word MUSIC was only used 80 times. Hmmm, maybe it'll fall for the old SEO trick if I goose that over 100?

    Here Maizey:
20 Biggest Record Company Screw-Ups of All Time

I loved them all, some pointed to where everything went wrong in the industry.
    For example:
    #11 Geffen sues Neil Young!
#5 RIAA sues that young single mother. But then, they also sued dead people...
I actually sent money to her defence fund, that's how mad I was!!
#2 Decca Records. Now, for me this is hilarious:
    - Groups with guitars are on their way out! Bwahawaaha

    About the Cube Game:
You don't have to play in the 80's! Why don't u choose another decade?? ;-)
