I've been here since 2006. Read the Readme, ran the Activate, and then the Setup. Yet Cool Record Edit still claims it is a trial version. What did I miss?

I got the same problem. Ran activate twice with no avail.

  3. Tried same protocol a few times... Activate... Install... it is still trial as well. It seems to be an epidemic.

Seems I'm not alone in this predicament. Ran the Activation and got a message that says the activation period has expired yet I still have 23 hours left. What's up guys?

The same thing as me I believe!

I was looking for something to transfer my Old Vinyl Lp's to my PC, then burn them to disk and delete them from my PC.
I looked at their site and like the feature for editing out the scratchy noise.

If a Fix comes up I will un-install and re-install.

The other alternative, without a fix, is just un-install!

Glad I'm not the only one, only one post up as I was typing this, lol.

There is no registration key in the read-me and if you click About, it brings up the logo with V5.2!

    HELP! Please!

In comments they say it's fixed!

    I re-installed it fresh(un-installed the old one)!

When I mouse over the register button which is on the upper right below help, it highlight's, but "purchase" below that doesn't. Does this mean it's registered?

Looks different and I can't find "about"

  11. Saves me having to say, 'well it worked for me'.

It did, I got the latter package, rather than the earlier one.

    Nice software b.t.w.

Coincidentally happened to have just been using Audacity a few hours earlier to record a telemarketer spamcall.
I downloaded CREP before any comments were posted, but got sidetracked by more pressing matters until after all the hubbub and glitchiness subsided. Downloaded it again, installed without problems.
The UI's very simple, allowed me to compress the aforementioned recording down from 686kb to 338kb without any noticeable degradation. (granted, I'm no audiophile, but there's no wax in my ears... just some pesky hairs)
Thanks GAOTD (and suki for her prompt alert to the fix)

Looks it could be quite a useful basic programme but there are features I cannot find. They are the 'Declicker', 'Dehum' and general 'Noise Reduction' found in Nero Wave Editor and Audacity. There are no presets that I can find for vinyl, which defeats the purpose of having it for me. I am in the process of transferring a lot of vinyl to PCM via a spare laptop plugged into my amp output and controlled with PC Anywhere from my main system. Audacity and Nero Wave Editor are both more useful to me so this will probably be uninstalled. The pale blue interface is ghastly :-)

The register button is still in the GUI.
Is the program registered or not? How can i be sure?
There´s also no text "registered to" in the about dialogue.

    Very strange.

  15. Well Fred, if it asks you for a registration code and username when it starts up, it's NOT registered.

    If it DON'T it's registered.

looks like only the mirror link has CoolRecordEditPro(upd).zip, the main wikisend link still has CoolRecordEditPro.zip.

    oops, huh?

Also, I didn't get the nag screen, but the program locked up when I tried help>about on the CoolRecordEditPro.zip version.

I downloaded from the wikisend link, and yes was puzzeled why it didn't say "fix" or "upd".
When I click "help" it doesn't lock up.

Also read in the comment section alot of people say that after they open and close the program several times, the nag screen returns.
I do not have this problem.

I have XP SP2 Media center, maybe that's why I'm not having any problems!

Only some of the comments said they had Vista, I believe the others didn't want to admit it, lol.

Gl, googotd, don't know what you have as an OS, and if you have Vista by no means is this ment to be downgrading!

I'm using win2ksp4, and the update does the same thing, so I'll avoid that. :)

and help doesn't lock it up, specifically "about" in the help menu.

To get answers to topics such as coverting vinyl to digital, or get opinions on USB turntables or guidance with editing software, this audiophile forum (req. free registration) might do the trick. It was recommended by a friend in the phonograph restoration biz.

Thanks for that link Rune. Once I find a new (second hand) deck I want to copy all my old albums to digital. I'll definitly be on the look out for software that helps edit out any bad scratches etc (not that there were many as I was always ultra careful in my younger days with my albums). That's going to be a log term project though because all my albums (hundreds) have been stored in the lof for around 15 years so I recon despite the protective sleeves and multiple wrapping they are going to be as crackly as hell...so maybe I'll be able to get advice from that forum. :)

I don't seem to have had the time to browse thse forums since getting the heads up on all the games. Which I must say I am missing. You guys and Gals have become online friends and I have been missing you all :) Does that seem odd?

  24. No more or less "odd" than usual. Why, does it cause you discomfort? I find that over time the barriers around thing's I consider "odd" become less defined (or it doesn't worry me as much). As long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and identify all four of the people staring back at you - there is probably no need for concern.

  25. For the past few weeks I was unable to install anything from GAOD. Apparently some Trojan or malaware changed the following settings to Vista users! I did everything to my Vista Home Premium and it was until now that I found out what is wrong with the registration validation. Follow this steps.
    1. Open:(don't matter if you use Firefox), Internet Explorer/tools/Internet Options/connections/Lan settings
    2.Check - Automatically detect settings
    3. Uncheck - Use proxy server…if checked
    4. Register

The machine may ask you to reboot…do it.

    5.Install

Give a thumb up if good advice!
