If I tried hard, I might get ~18% of the named into albums. as 'on general sights' of the day.... but where?

Like, what, maybe 50 have been been posted here in the last 10 days?

Out of 522 named, 1238 shot in the same time frame... 4.39%.

Gee, 25:1 compression ratio. fraction under half in naming.

(and, usually, crop, re-squash tighter and occasionally lossless rotation)

Did you use photoshop or something to alter the iris? It looks almost painted. Neat! And lilacs are one of my favorites. Took pics of some this morning, myself. Thanks!

the preceding babble boils down to: best I can, what you see is what it looked like in person- just not all 'in person' saw, of course.

Trippy as reality might be- look close at the water drops and there's one with a mint plant reflected in it on the iris.

    Good you're getting the shots.

    jervelkom, as gary says.

    Goody, your getting great shots!

I think that the dark pinks, fuschias and purples are the most difficult to capture the true colors of. They give off an iridescent glow. That's what I've seen with my shots, anyway.

"jervelkom, as gary says." What the heck does it mean?

I take about 100 to 300 shots a day, myself. Naming them all? Forget it. I only choose a select few for public viewing. The only one I "alter" are those I make into wallpaper. What you are doing is about what I do for the game closeups.

copmom I have only a rather outdated Canon Powershot A60, point and shoot camera, with 3x digital zoom and macro function, 2.0 mega pixel.
For the game I edit the photos with MagicLense Max, FastStone Capture and/or IrfanView, just what fits best. But only resize, crop, cut'n paste, no further processing. Like Goody said, from 10th of pictures taken are only some suitable. I just wanted to take some pictures of my "surroundings" for a friend and got 4 not really good shots from 256 MB. BTW Flowers are my favoured "aims", they don't wriggle about as my grandchildren do.

reality can sometimes can be a slippery thing

"jervelkom, as gary says." What the heck does it mean?

well, he sent me this camera, and that's what he said when I said thanks? I'm supposed to know?
    gervellkome is closer phonetic-wise.

One more for the lilac eyer.

reality check is best contrasted with Truth or Dare: the angle I saw it first from.

    As I got closer....

also, I found a white single LED flashlight works pretty good for getting close shots in dim if you force the flash on.

    see?

Goody - I have some silk flowers in pots hanging from the railing on my back porch. Last year when the temps were dropping, a neighbor, who is really into growing plants, was visiting. He noticed the flowers and told me that I'd better take them inside so the frost wouldn't kill them. I left them there all winter. You should have seen the look on his face when he saw them in the snow. It took him a minute to realize they were fake. LOL

    Another nice lilac pic!

Have you ever looked through instructables for photography gadgets and techniques? There are some interesting thing there. I'll have to remember your LED flashlight discovery. Nice shot! A cat-eye closeup coming?

  8. Goody......I see in your pics things that I don't get to see in real life. I'm not an "outdoorsy" type person. For one thing I hate bugs, also, because of my knee problems I can't do gardening. I do a few plants inside but they're limited. It's nice to see the flowers close up and get a real look at them. I gotta admit though, when Maizey guessed that black and yellow thing was a yellow jacket I thought maybe she was borrowing someones meds, lol. Never expected it to be that. WOW! When I first opened the lilac for just a brief second I thought I smelled them. Ours aren't even started to get buds yet......well, they might be now that it rained, but it's still pretty cold. I'll take a look next time I go out.

  9. PS....silk flowers can look amazingly real till you get close up and/or see them next to the real thing, then you see how much color and detail is really missing.

I thought Michael Jackson was real until I got up close and saw how much color and nose detail is missing.

Funky, Wow, that snake looks big! Do you know what kind it is? It doesn't look like a viper. Neat markings. There are a lot of rattle snakes around my house.

Thanks for the game. I just played it and it doesn't look like they'll be calling to help on any crime scenes anytime soon. :-)

funkymom...I have a great idea for another YouTube video for you! Your daughter singing, but instead of holding the plastic hair dryer, she's holding that snake. I bet you'd get a lot of hits from that!

    A cat-eye closeup as a challenge, what?

I'll nominate this and this as branches to see more of.
    //reset, oops/

ok, so I'll let the full size carter loose to balance dc.

and this I'll offer as an example of what that free / buck flashlight can focus like.
