Would it be possible to add the name of the software to each readme? I sometimes have 2 or 3 downloads working in succession and do open the readme of each to glance over while the downloads are progressing. As a result, I end up with license and registration information and numbers that I can't figure which software they belong to.

Today, for example I have a license key starting with "jmtkrz ..." and another beginning with "9ahc ..." that I am pretty sure belong to either today's or yesterday's software, but I don't know which goes where. I had to download yesterday's software in the last six minutes before the giveaways ended and so I skipped the registration steps in favor of activating and installing, which are time-limited. I have noted previously that registration information can be added after the giveaway period ends, as long as you get the other two processes completed on time.

To further complicate matters, I can't seem to get the magnifier from yesterday to open anywhere to put its registration number. When I click on the icon I get the magnifying glass, but no windows to check "About" or little boxes needing numbers.

Any help getting these numbers where they belong would be appreciated and perhaps adding the name to the readme would prevent this problem in the future.

try unzipping them in a named subdirectory, most uzip utilities have the option to 'extract to . then rename the readme to the name of the software. a little organization up front can save lots of pain later.

9ah is typing assistant. the other is magic lens max.

*right-click* on the magnifying glass, there's a spot on that menu to enter the reg code. and I think it only works on the day of the giveaway.

Thanks so much - I got them both in. And you're right " a little organization up front can save lots of pain later" - point taken!

Fortunately, as long as you get most of them downloaded and installed, you can insert registration numbers later (saved my butt more than once!)

Most of the time - don't rely on it though. I've seen several times in the past activation is only the first step - some developers want to verify the codes on their own servers, and they switch off new registrations of the code once the giveaway is over.

Wherever possible only consider you "are done" once the software is working, registered (check the about box) without prompts for codes etc.

As a rule, It's not done, until you have seen it working and registered with your own eyes. Also exit the program and start it from scratch to make sure it "stays registered".
