The last time this was given away it received 84% of 200 votes. You can see the comments made back then by following the link below:

The file size is 171Mb which is going to be a little large dial up users, once installed it’s 264MB, of which ~123Mb is made up of music, which therefore probably accounts for around half of the 171MB download

There is no shortcut installed to the desktop with Merscom LLC games so go to your Start menu and right click on the games shortcut there and select send to – select (desktop shortcut) for a shortcut to appear on the desktop.

    The Game

When booting up the game you will be presented with a confusing array of menu's with a ‘never mind the B****cks feel to it (from one of Punks more memorable bands The Sex Pistols). Though once you’ve searched around you’ll see it’s just like a web diagram and a novel way of creating the games menus. For details of these just check out the screen captures by following the link below:

    Slideshow:

    All on one page:

    Googled:

There’s a single and a two player option, each one having several characters to choose from such as Punker, Chelsea, Hiro, Rudy or Maybey. The options menu enables you to remap the keys for each player and also adjust the music and sound effects. You can also toggle off specific graphic options such as reflections, blood, soft decals (translucent blood spatters on walls and floors) and friendly fire (off, quarter or full for friendly fire). All the key bindings are given in the read me that you’ll find in the games folder. If you have a game pad or joy stick these can be used as well, and will be detected when booting up the game, though you will need to remap the buttons using the remapping menu that is found in the options menu.

    The Music:

If you're not big on ska, punk and hardcore, you can listen to your own
music! Just drop your own mp3s into the following folders:

The music comprises of four folders each with an different style of music which the game author has labeled , heavy, monster, poppy and skanky and contain tracks like 2 minute hate - superficial wounds, The young ones – victims of our doubt (heavy); Battling Seizure Robots – Ten Fold, Going Nowhere – Beatdown (Monster); Dakota Dream – In to Deep, Cherry Bing – The Yearbook (Poppy) and finally two Skanky tracks Acoustic Radio – Fall from it and Mexican Cessation – Fall from it. The author mentions that the different music styles have been added to create specific themes when playing through the levels; for example, Ninjas are a more lighthearted subject than metal heads, so
metal heads' theme uses a heavier music than the Ninjas' theme which is a poppy selection of music.

    Conclusion

Personally I think the game is quite well made for a Independent production, but I think it’s going to be one of those games you’re going to either love or hate. I think the menus are a little confusing at first, but once you get used to them they are acceptable. The two player option is great, but I do think you need a USB gaming pad, or a joy stick to enjoy playing in the two player mode as two people sharing one keyboard is not recommended.

I returned back from the doctors too late to write a full review in time to catch the bulk of the game giveaway patrons so here’s a couple of links to some decent reviews of the game:

I’m one of those that loves the game as anything wacky or unusual appeals to me (well most of the time anyway) I like the retro feel to this game and the ability to add any music you want to the four folders in the tracks folder is great. You don’t need to rename the music either. It’s easily worth 7 out of 10 for game play in my opinion. The keyboard controls are minimal, so it’s relatively easy to control the game. If you have a joystick or game pad I’d recommend using those as it makes the flow of the game that bit better (IMO)

Thank you Merscom LLC and the Giveaway team for giving away this unusual indie game for a second time.

  4. graylox... ISTbar is " spyware"
the link is for a scanning and removal tool that will get rid of ISTbar

I posted comments in the game pages comments section but they were deleted.

  5. actually it's "ADWARE" graylox
ISTbar stands for " integrated search technologies toolbar"

but in my opinion, ANYTHING that installs without me asking it to install is
    hideous spyware.

I didn't get anything other than the game downloaded. My security which includes windows own security measures, F-Secure, and a few others didn't give any warnings about spyware. I'll run my Adaware SE personal to see if I have this and report back if I do as I would'nt like to think that your warning may put off people from downlading the game if there's no reason not to.

Thanks for the warning just the same, though I would have thought the project leaders would have tested this game as they do with everything else that's downloaded from this project.

  9. WR, I've been on computer keyboards since 1977 ;-)

ISTbar installed "as soon" as I clicked " setup" from the dowmload.

I also run adaware 2007 Pro... with adwatch....
which entirely missed the ISTbar incident

Hi Viluf, I too have been on keyboards since the early seventies. I trained as a terminal equipment technician (as my earliest serious hobby was electronics and radios) while serving in the Army with the Royal Corps of Signals in 1974 to 1978. We worked with small networks which were the precursor of the WWW that we have all have come to love and hate.

As I said I appreciate the heads up. I wasn't trying to say you were wrong, just that it seemed unlikely considering the security I run, and the checks the giveaway team carry out. As for your remark about keyboards..... I don't actually know why you needed to inform me of your experience with keyboards, other than to imply that I wasn't experienced enough to comment. As you can see my experience actually pre dates yours, though that doesn't necessarily mean I know more than you as I may very well not. I would never consider myself an expert on these matter as technology has come a long way since those early networking days, and the speed at which malware etc has perfused the web is just unbelievable, and in my opinion almost impossible to keep pace with. Computing, hardware and software are just hobbies now as I learned years ago that working with something you love takes the pleasure out of it (usually).

That said, I have downloaded your suggested fix and am at this very moment going to run the scanner to see what I have on my computer, I only installed the new HDD just over a week ago so I wouldn't expect to find much in the way of spyware yet, but I always heed warnings just in case. I hope that you are wrong.

  12. I wasn't "assuming" anything WB
I was just "telling you" in my own unique way I guess, that I'm not a panic prone guy.... ;-)

Pest patrol is the only thing that noticed the ISTbar here, and it was indeed in the registry.
    all over the registry.
I usually download from the " mirror site" maybe that had something to do with it.

    Pest patrol whacked it though.
I run SDK version 5.6.x.x of e-trust PP

Adaware 2007 didn't even see it here....

so much for adaware me thinks lol

Remember the grand daddy of all laptops? the 21 pound Osborne one? lol
I was SO proud of that thing ( CP/M ) it looked like a portable singer sewing machine lol

Well, I have been on keyboards for 10 years only, nevertheless I couldn't find a hint of said spybar / toolbar on this machine. Not with the suggested tool and not any other suspicious traces. I might add that this computer is far from being an example of good precaution measures.

I've still to run the check. Been busy playing games. :) I strated it, but as I set it to check all the discs it was taking forever so I thought I'd run it once I retire to bed.

I installed the suggested software, but after setting it up it seemed to be taking forever to sweep my computer (probably because there’s nearly 1.5Tb on four discs lol, though I suppose I could have narrowed down the search a little by being a little more specific where the appropriate files were located. Anyway; what I did instead was finally get around to sorting my Adaware subscription out. I paid for the SE version of Adaware with three years subscription as well. As you know the program was upgraded and superseded by Adaware 2007. for some stupid reason I thought I'd have to pay more cash to update the program, which I didn't particularly want to do as I’ve spend enough on the computers I have as it is. I finally updated to 2007 today and discovered that my original subscription is still valid. :) So I'd like to thank you as if you hadn't mentioned it I probably wouldn't have bothered. Also, running the scan for the first time, guess what, it picked up …. Yep, you’ve guessed it….. ISTbar.... So that makes me a little wary of all these wonderful downloads we get from the project; though I'm sure it would have been an oversight by the giveaway team. If you didn't pick it up the other day using the same program, the most recent definitions must have included the fix.

Thanks again. Also I apologize for being skeptical. I guess I’m too trusting sometimes.
