From WhiteRabbit "These are not freeware, but commercial games being given away free"

Ok, I hope I am posting right :) I was just wondering what this means? What's the difference?

    Thanks for the help!

Freeware means that the developer charges no money for full use of the product. This site gives away commercial software, which costs money. For example, Cave Story is freeware, while Halo is commercial.

just to add to lockett's excellent definition.

giveaway of the day gives away commercial programs. they are not freeware, but are being offered for a limited time for free. sometimes programmers give their wares for free on their own sites, too.

PS did I put this post in the right place? I never know where things should go. Too many options available to work with! :)

Thanks! I have been visiting almost daily for a few months and have only posted once to a game because I just can't seem to get the games tried out before the time is over. But I have loved all the games I have gotten.

yeah- i missed so many games when i first started coming to this site. first, i was downloading and not installing right away. then i had problems with installing, until i got the hang of it. i still sometimes find myself scrambling to get a program on time. (like last night.)

I can get them DL and installed most of the time, ON time. My problem comes from having to share 1 computer with the other 5 people in my house! Oh, and then there is a small problem of slower that dial-up access! :) I usually just stick with the games around 15 MB or smaller. Too much bigger and they take 3 or more hours to DL. But, when you are addicted, you just keep trying, right?
