   Ever since I came across GAOTD (about 10 months ago) I have been keeping a record of the software that has been made available. When the good folks at GAOTD offered Maple not so long back I realised its potential.

   I would like to offer the readers of this forum a downloadable Maple database which hopefully most of you will find useful.

   For things like:

   GAOTD are offering another version of XYZ, how different is it to the previous version, is it worth me downloading again?

   I remember there was a program that fitted the bill, now what was it called?

   I have this software on my computer, but I can't remember what it does.

   Haven't I already got software installed that does roughly the same thing?

   I wonder if I can download extra dictionaries for this.

   I would now like to re-install XYZ and register it but what was the programs name and webpage?

   ... and so forth

   If any of you still have Maple installed you can add your own inclusions to the records such as cutting and pasting the helpful (or not so helpful) user comments from the download page etc. All is not lost if you haven't got the full version of Maple as there is a free Maple reader (link below).

   Anyway, Bubby I have made available a sample database for peeps to have a look at. Can I have GAOTD's permission to go ahead with the full one? It will not contain any serial numbers etc.

   Readers of this Forum - do you consider this is a good idea, or am I wasting my time? Will you assist me on this by posting any mistakes I've made etc?

   Wow Kate.. this sounds just like what we've been talking about.. due to our memory loss and 'old timers', etc. Am in the midst of downloading right now, so will see what happens when it's done. (PS: LOL I also took the liberty of saving some of your .gifs and .jpgs to use in my emails).

   Kate.... this is wonderful!! Now tell me, what is the best way to add things to your database for this! This really helps tell me what's what, and why do I have it, etc.

   LOL I forgot about my Graphics folder!! Glad you found it useful :) copman if you have the full version of Maple you can add your own notes by editing the records. It won't be long before I've finished what I intend to do (for now) but I won't be able to publish it until I have permission from GAOTD, anyway I'm glad that so far the opinions are positive.

   Well I haven't had a look at the details yet - but just posting a link to your own file here in the forums is probably OK. (If it's not likely to jeopardize future giveaways or upset any of the game developers/vendors) I know the GOTD team have been planning to do something for a while as a fully searchable database on program title/date etc - so I think this is a great alternative at least until whenever they get theirs up and working.

   I'll have a look at it a little later (might help to install Maple first :P ) and see if I have any useful comments/ideas.

   I've forwarded this topic link to the GOTD team - in case they feel the need to comment.

   Of course she's going to charge them an arm and a leg for it, right K8?

    Kate, Your sample database is fantastic. I have been writing the info down in a notebook ever since I joined March 1, 2007. This is tons better, it includes photos, and I can add relevant comments, which, ever since March have gone into Evernote. So, I have the information in two separate places.

    Your homework, once you have finished this database, is to do one for the games!!! (lol). Seriously, I am going to have to look at figuring how to do a games database, or wait for GOTD, not that I can see theirs being any better than yours. And, do they, or anyone else, think a Games database important?

    Well done, this is just what I need and half the work is already done for me.

    Sorry folks but I'm not 'into' games - I have never downloaded them and don't want to start now. Well when I say I don't like games - I do but I'm a 'One Game Woman' and that's Guild Wars, have been playing that for 2 years now. My main character is a Necromancer called Undead Fox (that's where my nick here comes from). If any of you play Guild Wars, look me up.

    Anyway - back to the database perhaps someone like freewarefan or RunesageMagik would do the games database (hint hint) lol

    btw GAOTD has given the green light for the database which is good news.

    K8, you had a great and noble idea... right up to when you volunteered me. :-) I have so much on my plate, the waitstaff's building a ruggedized table in the corner just for me.

    Guess I don't have the full version after all.. tried to add something a bit ago and it won't allow it.. bwah! I just got the Maple "Reader" that you gave the url to. Will wait 'til it's offered again!
