After a brief hiatus, my reviews have returned. I just wish that I had something better to review.

Aqua Bubble is a straightforward clone of Bust-A-Move, adding nothing except foibles. While the original Bust-A-Move simply added layers of bubbles to the top, making it easier for the player to judge the necessary angles, the bubbles in Aqua Bubble simply scroll down from the top of the screen, causing the player to miss repeatedly as they misjudge their angle. The "color warning", as I call it for lack of a better term, also takes a while to get used to.

At least the graphics are good. Everything is shiny and colorful, but there's a distinct lack of particle effects, that staple of match-3 graphics.

The sound is annoying, though. The music quickly got on my nerves, the main character's incessant chatter was unbearable, and the shooting/matching sounds were subpar. I muted my speakers.

The theme is very strange. A being called Aquatic(his name is an adjective?) lives in a cave, and the cave is being flooded by "bubble invaders". You have to save him by driving off the bubble invaders and draining the cave. What I don't understand is how he can drown, since he is made out of water. Anyway, if he is "aquatic", shouldn't he live in water already?

Overall, I give Aqua Bubble a score of four and a half out of ten(four for gameplay, seven for graphics, three for sound, and four for theme). The basic concept has been copied so much that it's practically dead, and there are better alternatives on Flash sites.

Small side note: Aqua Bubble, by default, runs in windowed mode, enhancing the online Flash-game feel.

  2. Hi, Lockett,
    nice having you back again!
You are so right with your review. I downloaded a lot of games the last few weeks, this is the first one I deleted.
