   Like many others, I am unable to get today's game, Sea Soar, to run on my Vista machine, even in any compatibility mode.

   The game installs fine with no complaints. It is placed where I tell it to be placed and puts the shortcut where I want it to be. However, when I click on the shortcut, I get the equivalent of the hourglass (spinning wheel) and then NOTHING!

   Even though I can find nothing running, even using the Task Manager, it slows down my computer. I had to re-boot to get normal Speed again.

   I am running 32 bit Vista Ultimate on a 2.4 GHz processor and 2 GB memory. I do have an NVidia graphics board but I could not tell you the model.

   Does anybody have any idea what is wrong?

   I have not uninstalled the game - I just won't try it. I'm hoping that someone has a fix so I can at least give the game a try!

   System Requirements: Windows 98SE/ME/200/XP; Pentium III - 500Mhz; 64MB RAM; 16MB Graphics Card (1024x768 Resolution); DirectX 8.0

   I meet or exceed EVERY one of those requirements which I always understood to be minimum requirements. Most games that don't specifically list Vista will still run on Vista at least for some users. There has got to be another explanation for the type of error I'm receiving.

   When a game fails, it should fail with an error message. This does nothing except leave something running that I can't find. Only a re-boot gets it out. I have never seen this type of behavior for any product of any type on any operating system before!

   Usually when programs list software requirements they can fall into one of two camps.

   1. The requirements were written some time ago (Before Vista) and an omission to explicitly mention vista doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, or cannot be made to work without additional steps (compatibility mode). In effect you could add an additional 2 words "or later" after XP.

   2. The omission to mention Vista may be deliberate - because well Vista doesn't run a lot of older software. (lots of fingerpointing as to whose fault that is).

   So if you are running Vista - toss a coin and see which one applies to you. It is either going to work - or it has no hope of working. If it does actually work for you, then consider yourself lucky. If it doesn't work, well "we told you so".

   Note: in the event that the requirements actually list Vista - then this should mean that the software has been tested and shown to run on Vista, without requiring any form of ritual in black magic. If you still can't get it to work - somebody, somewhere is doing something wrong. (you can let us know, here in the forums - as they say two heads are better than one, especially in a carnival sideshow).

   I figured something out. When you start seesoar instead of running as a program, it runs as a process.
   Dragonlair: that is probably why your computer started acting slower. Every time you run seesoar it starts another process, and after a while a lot of processes can slow down your computer.
   So I don't know why it runs as a process but if someone can figure it out befor the day is over, I would realy appreciate it.

   I'm not sure I follow... all programs run as a process. Do you mean that when you close/exit the game - the process doesn't close/end ? That would be a problem.

   I looked at the processes running as well as the services and could not find anything that would relate to SeaSoar. Also, it only took ONE activation to grind my system to a halt. It would continue to run but very slowly. A re-boot was required.

   I agree BuBBy, a program in any name that won't end is a problem. As I got no display change of any kind except for the spinning wheel disappearing, I don't know WHAT it started!

   I eventually just uninstalled the whole mess. If it shows up again as a repeat, maybe they'll have it fixed.
