Hello, folks! I thought that this might be of use/interest to some of you, so here's the lowdown.....
10 Minute-Mail was created to protect innocent Internet users from unsolicited e-mail messages, this service provides a free, temporary e-mail address that expires within a 10 minute time period. If you're wary of disclosing your e-mail address to a site that requires a registration, why not use 10 Minute Mail instead? You'll be able to register with no questions asked, and (more importantly) you'll avoid being added to spam (junk mail) lists.

If you think you'd like to try it out, or that this might just come in handy one day, here's the link:

    Enjoy the journey!

  2. And for those forms where they insist on a name/address/phone and you feel like it is a slight invasion of your privacy.

(The generated credit card numbers is for generating software test data eg a customer database, and not attempted fraud).

    Hi,
I have been getting tons of spam too, so I started using another fake E-Mail generating Web site, it can be found here: http://www.guerrillamail.com/ the only difference I can see is they give you 15 minuets, to use it, instead of 10. Both give you the option to extend the time.
I recently found a Web site, "The Cloak", I have not used it yet. but it is suppose to give a user the the ability to surf anonymously, it also gives you the option to surf in encrypted or un-encrypted mode when you log in, the free service has limited bandwidth, the paid service is unlimited. Has anyone here used it, and have any opinions, good or bad? When I Google it only their home page comes up.
    Have a good one,
    Barry

  4. I used to use guerrillamail.com - then I found http://sneakemail.com - like many of the other sites has lots of features, reports, rules, filters but it lets you create alias addresses that forward to a "real" address that you specify.

The advantage is all the addresses you create, are permanent - until you decide to kill them. You can set them to temporarily "drop" or "bounce" any emails that get sent to one of these addresses if you don't want to delete the alias address altogether.

Sneakemail also has some very nice reporting - if you want to get a list of all your created addresses - or their tags, notes, history etc. In fact I haven't really found it to be lacking for anything I'd like to do with it.

I've used the free service for probably 7 or 8 years. There are some limitations such as 10MB of email per month - I have one set up for all my mail list subscriptions and I've never used even half of that (still trying to work out why).

There is another "level" of service which is basically $2 a month with basically all of the limits removed - but over all the years, I've never exceeded the "free" limits.

It is handy to have several different email domains "up your sleeve" as some offers or mail lists - won't let you sign up from a known "temporary" address - especially one that they know will "disappear" the following day.

  5. Hey guys, FYI Barry's link above for Guerrilla Mail needs to have the comma at the end removed, or at least excluded from the URL, otherwise clicking on it (or copy and paste) will only give you a 404 screen....(yeah, I'm trying it out!) Thank you to everyone, these are a GREAT idea!

    Hi,
Oops, thanks for fixing the comma, I usually test the links before leaving a post, sorry about that.
I notice my post thanking BuBBy for the link to Sneakemail disappeared, must of went to cyber heaven. Anyway, Sneakemail looks very promising, I will be giving it a try, thanks again.

  9. Any disappearing posts is almost certainly as a result of a server migration and problems in the forums about 24 hours ago.

PS. Glad you like sneakemail. It's nice to have control over your own email once again & be able to tell who is selling your email address to the spammers.
