One question: Don't those games cost money, but they are downloadable for free? Sounds fishy...

Depends. Some of them require a full version (in which case you have to buy them)and they have released some source tools.
Majority have had their original commerical licenses adapted legally (by agreement of the software author/publisher) to become freeware so they no longer cost money.

Thanks tichan. Maybe I'm slow, but how do you download any of these? They look great and I went to a few sites, but mostly found other games they were selling - what am I missing??

Also, is there any way to know if someone has replied to one of your posts on these forums? I have left questions and suggestions around, and some I can never get back to.
