I downloaded one game yesterday and one game the day before from Jenkat. I did the custom install, unchecked each of the boxes, declined all the bloatware and still got a Yahoo toolbar installed on my PC both days. In order to remove it, I had to reboot each day so I didn't even try the games... just uninstalled them since there was no telling what was included in the game if played. So my question is... what's so great about Jenkat? It is a real pain to use as far as I'm concerned. I think I would rather pay for the games than deal with their "free" offers. :P

I have NEVER received any sort of "bloatware" from Jenkat. Yes, you sometimes have to "uncheck" an offer to install their game manager but the last few I've done from them have dropped that. I also "decline" 4 or 5 "offers".
I have never had a toolbar installed from them at all.
My only complaints with Jenkat do have to do with their installer, though. Malwarebytes does not like their installer, even with the install stub in the recycle bin. Also they install into 2 places in Program Files (or Program Files (x86) for 64 bit users). They put one in the main area as well as in the "Common Files" sub folder. I always merge from Common Files to the level above and allow any over-writes of the same name and then move that folder out of the default area entirely. I go back later and fix the uninstall registry pointers using CCleaner as an easy way to get to the right registry entry.
Edit ---
There was one game I declined a while back and I just decided to install it as a check. There was a check mark to un-do for the Jenkat game manager on the first page and I did that and accepted.
The ONLY "Custom" I saw at all was on the next page - to the Yahoo toolbar! Don't bother with custom or automatic - just click "decline" at the bottom left! That may be what you did wrong.
The install went fine with NO toolbars or other bloatware

Thanks, Dragonlair! I reinstalled the two games and followed your suggestions. I did not see anything for a Jenkat game manager. And by declining the first page with the three options instead of unchecking them, I was able to download and NOT get the Yahoo Toolbar. :DPosted 10 years ago #
