Would anyone know of a program that has the functions of ISOBuster, but is a completely freeware program? I downloaded ISOBuster, and it reads an old Cd of mine that wasn't closed out, however it will not extract the photos I had archived, that I would like to retrieve. That feature of ISOBuster requires that one pay for it. So, I'm looking for a program that will read a UDF CD which wasn't closed, and extract my Photo directory to HD.

Any pointers would sure be appreciated! Thanks.

  2. That's a tricky one - because most data recovery programs (that are any good) tend to be commercial/shareware. There are trials available but often they only display what "could" be recovered if you registered. Two free programs that I have in my toolbox are:

    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/cd.html
    http://www.undelete-plus.com/

Another which is shareware/commercial - that looks good (which I haven't used before) is http://cdroller.com/ I am not sure what the shareware/trial limitations are though.

@BuBBy - I appreciate those links. I tried recoverytoolbox, but it would not even begin to read my CD. I tried the trial version of CDroller, and it did read the CD, however, it was the same as ISOBuster when time came to recover the photo directory. Payment required. But I did gain exposure to those programs in the process, and I thank you for that!

You could try CDMage, but it's been "dead" for ages, not sure if it has any UDF capabilities.

Don't bother with the CJB.net redirect that they say to bookmark, it's very dead, after CJB went all scumbag with spyware and drive-by downloads.

@Theleecher - I got CDMage, but you were correct in that it doesn't have any UDF capabilities. It looks to be a good program, however, and I've kept it for future needs. Thanks!
