to the "BIG BOSS/ES" of our beloved GAOTD,

i really love this site!! they turn shareware into freeware. COOL!
now, that's something to talk about. no one bites back as hard as GAOTD!

actually, this wouldn't be a suggestion, but a request...
could you give away a cd/dvd label maker for free?
hope you could grant my wish....

    thanks guys...

  2. i really love this site!! they turn shareware into freeware.

Actually the software is definitely not "freeware" - it is still shareware & GOTD give you a "free license".

FREEWARE:Software that is distributed without charge and which may be redistributed without charge by its users. However, ownership is retained by the developer who may change future releases from freeware to a paid product (feeware).

    Also see: http://wiki.castlecops.com/Freeware_definition

The giveaway software offered on this site does not include permission for users to redistribute the software or make it available to other users. The software is still (normally) shareware - even though users have a license/registration fee paid on their behalf by GiveawayOfTheDay.com

There are a few good CD Labelmakers that are freeware, though some are only "picture placers"...

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/undercoverxp.html (picture placer, for premade artwork)

http://www.cdlabelcorp.net/freesoftzoner.html Zoner Draw 3 CD Label edition (getting a little long in the tooth now)
    http://www.cdlabelcorp.net/freesoftcdlabelcorp.html Their own one

http://www.medea.co.uk/pressit/pressit_download.htm Pressit (for pressit label sheet format)

A lot of the old ones seem to be dying off, expired freehosting and so on, or discontinued in mergers

  4. There's plenty of software out there to do it. As far as I know, they're free, since you'd have to buy labels anyway. In fact, the two label packages I have both came with a CD with software, so I'm curious as to which package you've bought didn't include software. (One of the packages I bought even came with a label applicator so that you always get it straight-on.)
... then again, considering the results I'm getting, maybe it's only because I bought them a while ago ...

    Label software:
Avery Click 'n Design Software (Mac and Windows; A little old)
Imation SoniX (Mac and Windows) ("Both the Imation SoniX CD/DVD Label Kit, and its corresponding labels, have been discontinued. We do not know whether any retailers might have these products available. You may have success with an online product search.")

    Templates:
    TDK Templates
    Avery Templates
Neato's blank labels, incl. ones for other software (MS Word, Photoshop, Illustrator)
    CD STOMPER Templates
    SureThing Templates
