I am actually not looking for a software, but for one of those web2.0 sites.
does anyone here know of any english site, where you can enter all the movies, books and other things, that you have collect, and manage online?

I saw a German site being linked yesterday , in some of my newsletter, but I would like to have a US version, as i am sure, it exists, since most German web.2 applications are *adapted* from the US ones.

something like this, only completely online:
    http://www.findfiles.com/2597/details-collectorz-com-movie-collector.html

and not just for movies, but as i said , books, and other things as well.

    thanks for any help.

    Hi Ender,

I've used Library Thing for years for cataloging my books. It's free up to a certain number of books, then if you want to add more you pay a small fee. I have so many more books than 200 that I paid. I don't use it, but Chasing the Frog has an online site for cataloging your movies.

The links are: http://www.librarything.com and http://www.chasingthefrog.com/catalog/

Both sites have that interaction between other members, where you can recommend or rate movies and books, and so on and so forth. I couldn't find any sites, though, that were set for both, or that would allow you to catalog any type of collection you had. Might be a good idea for someone to do that. I don't know if these are what you're looking for, but hope they help.

Ah, darn it. They already came up with an interactive site that allows you to put in all sorts of collections. I sure couldn't find one earlier, so I'm glad you were able to find Listal. It looks like an interesting site.

Try www.coolector.com It's a "new" program in progress from a frequent visitor to GOTD forums. He hopes to develop it for cataloging all forms of media. (DVD, Books, Games, Etc.) GOTD had an offer back in December to a movie cataloging program & it may repeat.

Collectorz is not free; but it is worth every penny and more (this from a freeware fan). The program is totally customizable, easy to us, and the people are wonderful if you have any questions - and very prompt.

thanks lwbjag and gud, but i was looking for an online solution, not a program that i need to install.

maybe your suggestion will help others though.

me again, i found at another day a freeware, that seems to also do the job as coolector, maybe for some , who visit this thread , it might be useful:
    http://www.getlibra.com/
    its still in beta though:

    Current Version: 0.9.0 (beta)
    File Size: 4.32MB
    Runs on Windows XP/VISTA.
    Free for non-commercial use.

Libra is a library software to organize your stuff: Books, Audio CDs, Movies, & Games (for a start). And it does so beautifully, and at an amazing price ($0 for non-commercial use).

Believe it or not, but the simplest solution is actually GMail!

    1) You create a new (Free)Gmail account.
    2) You send an e-mail to that account with the name of the book or the Music in the Title
    3) You can search the entire Database for names, ISBN Numbers, etc.
    4) You can create Filters for Books, Music, etc.
    5) You can send e-mails to friends and family who have borrowed what.
    6) You can keep "converstaions" comments about a particular book under each book title (Subject).

Give it a shot... it's free and you get 2.8 Gigs of storage space, more than enough for your entire database!

With a Firefox extension you can also load multiple Google Accounts (if you already use Gmail), or you can use a different browser to manage this Book Gmail account!

    Good Luck!
