    Nod32.

This is honestly the best antivirus out there. I doubt it will be available as a giveaway but I would appreciate it if the GAOTD tried to get. It's not as well know as Norton or McAffe but it kicks some serious ass!

    http://www.eset.com/products/nod32.php

    A year free antivirus FTW!

    Or

    Internet Download Manager (IDM)

    http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com

IDM is definatly one of the best download managers...

Both are quality apps, I hope we can get at least one offered, if lucky, then both. :)

    Nod32 isn't the best.

The gest av is the one loaded with all the definitions to find a trojan, virus, malware etc.

Thats why NAV 2009 is the dogs you know what.

NIS2009 is the best since windows 95 version.

While NIS2009 is really, really good (they have worked out a lot of the resource hogging and other problems they have had in the past), it is not "the best". You cannot really define what is "the best" AV because there is no anti virus that will give you perfect results. Not to mention if you have been using Norton since 95...=O. Norton has only recently improved their game imo.

NOD32, infact, is one of the best. It is light on resources and is fairly good on picking up problems.

My list of top 4 not in any particular order:
NIS 2009 (NAV 09 is also an alternative if you do not want the full suite...but IS > AV!)
Avira Premium (or get the free Avira version + some antispyware if you dun wanna pay!)
    NOD32
    Kaspersky 2009 (IS or AV)

I know I said that you cannot say any one AV is "the best", but if I was forced to choose, I would definitely go Avira Premium over the rest.

It was not all that long ago when in the “Suggestions For Future Giveaway’s Sticky” I wrote if Danusoft Digital Media Converter was nominated again by GAOTD, I would be dancing barefoot in the street with glee. I didn’t expect that would happen any time soon, but much to my surprise here it is today. The trouble with that is where I live the streets are covered with snow, nonetheless, never let it be said the Renegade is a welsher. Now if you excuse me I can see the Rescue truck coming down my street to extricate my feet off the frozen pavement. :)

I would like to suggest HyperSnap as a GOTD. This is a very handy printscreen program in that just a small part of the screen can be copied, the whole screen, or you can scroll copy a lengthy window or frame. I believe the new version will even capture editable text and tab-delimited data for copy and paste into a spreadsheet document.

Here is the download site: http://www.hyperionics.com/hsdx/downloads.asp

This is very handy for students (like me) who are taking courses on-line and need to send in partial print screens to prove computer programs have been completed correctly.

A good program used for stitching photographs together into a panorama is Panorama Maker 4 Pro, by Arcsoft. I used the trial version a while back, and since trying other similar software have discovered that this one is probably the best of its kind. It is easy to use and has an automatic mode as well as more advanced options. This program would make a great, good quality, Give Away Of The Day.

As there are allot of screen savers offered on GAOTD, and many don't like them, how about one that people can like and enjoy?

I'd like to see Sim AQUARIUM 2 Platinum, from http://simaquarium.com.
Or how about Dream Aquarium Screen-saver, from http://www.dreamaquarium.com/.
Or maybe even Marine Aquarium 2.6, from http://www.serenescreen.com/

All are good, and appear to be within the price range of the products offered on GAOTD.

    Just some ideas.

as a new member i would congratulate you on providing a valuble service with lots of good software which on the day is free. One type of software i have not seen is for diagnostic software this is so that one can find out if your hardware is about to go belly up. i recently had a problem with my system crashing and not software related i eventually traced this to my CPU fan not working consistantly and i found this little freeby which saved me a lot of heartache http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
What i would like to see is software of a diagnotic nature which would save us from frustration and a lot of wasted time and expenditure.
