As youtube and other video portals became so common a video editing tool is a kinda must have to cut edit and publish. Now the problem is: there is almost no freeware and the know big programs usually never have trials or are so limite in functions that you can do everything but save your finished video.
So a video editing program would be very nice to find on my fav. site giveawayftheday.
Most important feature for this program would be: export to .avi .wmv or some other standard video file. This is the problem of the most free versions. Usually you can only burn a CD / DVD but not create a movie file (for example for youtube upload).There are some nice programs like "Muvee" which is a auto mixer. You can drag & drop files into the program (for example pictures) and it mixes the blending and other effects to you musik beat (if selected). It has some presets for mixing but the problem is: this program lives from its expansion packs: the style packs. Usually the Pro Style packs and the Cool Style packs fit best.
Maybe giveawayoftheday coul release an older version like Muvee Auto Producer 4.1 which is 98% the same as the actual 6.0 Version. This software often was bundeled with some hardware so perhaps a good chanche to get a GOTD version going.The other big video Editing tools are: (i marked the software with a * which i think could be interesting for giveawayoftheday):
The Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premiere / Adobe Premiere Elemets, Sony Vegas Pro, *Corel Ulead Video Studio, *Canopus Edius, *Cyberlink Power Director ,*Magix Video Deluxe, *Roxio Video Wave, *Mainconcept Eve and others.
The software with the * usually have trial versions or software with limited functions for testing.atm i use the Freeware "Video Spin" which is a starter version of Pinnacle Studio.
It is fully functionable and does a good job...except MPEG2, MPEG4 and DIVX otuput is limited for 15 days. This means you could only directy create a DVD after this time.
Perhaps giveawayoftheday could make a deal with Video Spin (Pinnacle) and relase one of the 3 codecs. (lifetime usage after installation, or a 1 year limited usage...somthing like that). I recomend the DivX because it's the most common.
All codecs together is called Advanced Codec pack and costs 9,99 Euro.
I guess the programm + a codec or a codec pack would be really a good choice and 89% of all GOTD users will be glad to have it :)

It's a really simple program that automatically renames digital photos, by using the EXIF data. For example, it could be set to rename:
"DSC00001.jpg" to "2008-07-23 10h42m18s.jpg"
and
"DSC00002.jpg" to "2008-07-23 10h52m46s.jpg"Obviously there's loads of different things you can use in the new name (camera make and/or model, width and/or height, flash, exposure time, etc.)
