We've had plenty of nice screensavers (thank you very much!).

How about offering the "Platinum" version of the music/audio "visualizations" (or visual plugin for a variety of popular media players like WMP, iTunes, WinAmp, etc) from SoundSpectrum.

SoundSpectrum supplies the limited-edition version of their leading product "G-Force" visualization that comes pre-loaded with Windows Media Player.

The "Platinum" level includes a screensaver and a standalone version that works with any sound source supported by a computer, including line-in audio, CD audio, microphone input, etc.

    http://www.soundspectrum.com/g-force/standalone.html

Besides G-Force, they also offer free/Gold/Platinum levels for both Windows and Apple Macintosh platforms of:

"SoftSkies" (my pick of something new/different I don't yet have; moving cloud-like patterns, with your choice of foreground images)
    http://www.soundspectrum.com/softskies/multiplayer.html

"WhiteCap" (I don't have this either; more patterns that move in beat with the music)
    www.soundspectrum.com/whitecap/screenshots.html

"Winter Wonders" (holiday theme, snowflakes and candy canes bounce to the beat; maybe this one could be saved for later).

PersonalBrain Pro would be really nice.

I vote with Aaron2222 for PersonalBrain Pro.

It is now list priced at $249. Long ago (3-4 years?) it used to be only $49, and I always thought that the price was so reasonable that I might as well wait to purchase it so as to get the latest version when I had time to really use it (like I do now).

The price rose while I wasn't looking; perhaps they should rename it to "CorporateBrain" to reflect the need for bigger budgets!

Here's the link to the page which compares the various versions:

    http://www.thebrain.com/#-111

I was interested in PersonalBrain as a great graphic tool to automatically display a visual relationship between things (ideas, documents, etc.) long before last year's GAOTD offer of ConceptDraw MINDMAP Personal (version 4.5 on March 6, 2007):

    http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/conceptdraw-mindmap-personal/

...which was $119 then (v5 "Pro" is $199 now -- I no longer see a "Personal" version). I guess GAOTD helped with THEIR sales and resulting price boost!

I know of a local consulting company built around selling/using PersonalBrain to help businesses come up with innovative new products and services.

hi, i know it's pretty much impossible, but i'm really in need of this software, and thought that if i put if out there, the computer gods might send it my way.

i need microsoft office 2003 and, unfortunately, it has to be the MS program and not a knock off.

thanks for listening to my pipe dreams.

and thanks for all the wonderful software and games i have gotten through this site.

Ms office is better than open office. There should be a separate thread for games. I think desktop enhancers would be a good giveaway www.stardock.com

  23. How about AVG 8.0? I think everybody would appreciate that since there are no more updates for AVG free. Or maybe some other virus protection program...

A FREE version of AVG8 is available, but you can be forgiven from not noticing it if you responded to the incessant reminders to update from 7.5 which lead to a page that did not offer a free option. Strongly suggest you read the AVG FREE Forums before upgrading. They've managed to make the upgrade as difficult as possible without actually hiring Microsoft programmers. Beware the way the install auto-enables services that may slow your PC, and how the control panel now contains a noxious ad banner, and how the tool bar slaps a persistent and distracting red exclamation mark on the icon should you dare to disable any unwanted service. This isn't your granddad's AVG. Bloat has arrived.

With all the conversion software giveaways here I'm surprised there hasn't been one that converts SWF to Animated Gif.
I would like to see something like that, searching for one on the net I found this one, SWF-AVI-GIF Converter 1.0 at http://iwantsoft.com/
I tried it on a SWF file I made in Swishmax and it works pretty well.
