during yesterday's update i was informed by the software that there's a new version, and the software want to uninstall the previous version.

does anyone know if that means that i'll still be able to use the new version? after all, i don't have a password and username for the new version...

  2. It will just update to a newer version and your licence will remain intact.

The licence expires in September 2007.

Sorry Lee --- Wrong ! --- I (stupidly ?) followed directions yesterday (Sun. June 17 ) . It removed the "old" version, all files & set a system restore point. Followed directions again to install "new" version. ~~~ Remembering we were promised free updates for 3 months. ~~~~ Installed w/o any problems. Scaned system as normal. Clicked "Repair". --- Guess what happened ... Yep ! "This feature unavailable with trial version" ...You must supply registration info or PAY for full version !!!
My foot, three joints up !!!!
Personal version updated & works fine. "AdAware SE" works "better" for free. They both identify "problems" the other missed. BTW - AWC Personal and/or Pro will each find items the other didnot report. - That is until I TRUSTED and updated ! 8-(
I am now going to be an unreasonable a-hole and demand a free lifetime version for my trouble. ( That'll teach 'em. )

No offense intended Lee ... I "knew" registered to would be "giveawayoftheday" ...
Since the program removed the previous files; where is the code/number to come from? Go back to system restore point & try to see if the old info is viewable ?
As I said , the new update didnot retain any of the "old" registion information.
Please advise what action I can take, beyond viewing your screen capture. - Thanks !

  6. When I was told about the update (via the program itself) it downloaded newest version, then uninstalled older version then installed newest version.

Use the same key you have for the version before.

    It's displayed in the options/about.

Tried that ... Opens window saying "Trial Version used only for scans. & Thanks to contributors. - I'm still stymied. What next? I did the same as you. The program notified of the update & I followed directions.

Please don't take this the wrong way ... That is the question I am asking ...
I don't expect You to give it to me. Where in my files/programs do I find it - since it was not transffered automatically to the updated version.
I seem to recall something similar has happened before & there was a cut & paste work-around. - Thanks.

  10. Install the version you had before updating.

Then it should appear as it's not in the registry and I cannot tell you exactly where it is as I am not allowed to.

I don't know how you did it, but my readme.txt file doesnt have any passwords and I always write them when I can. I ran the program, asked for update and I got the non-registered message. I reinstalled Avvanced Windows that I had before the updating and got no registration key. Now all I got is a trial version which I have unisntalled already.

I'll never again follow intructions that promise things that are not true.
I'm with you lwbjag. I got my shotgun ready.

I saw the other thread and was a bit hesistant to download at first. Followed Alexiussg loose instructions "but after AWC autodownload the v2.5, I went into the folder its folder, usually it will be C:\Program Files\IObit\Advanced WindowsCare V2 Pro\ and copy out the setup.exe and manually install it. I cancel the auto install. " (see thread June 16th) and copy is still registered correctly.
    Version now is 2.5.0.913
I guess in essence, don't run the auto update, but rather the setup. Sorry, know that doesn't help now, but perhaps some others

  15. @ AlexSJ - I jus registered another AWC on my notebook. first I install the reg file containing the user and password den install the AWC(the older version). den i did the upgrade. works perfectly- NEVER enter the code found on the "About" page on a NEW AWC program. I learnt that from the prev AWC giveaway. IT doesn't REGISTER! I've tried it but failed... i suppose bcos it checks back to its server to see if its valid or not

There is a "new" topic about the "same" - "mess" - Sounds like it's automatic for "some" ... * I fail to see any difference in instructions *

  17. have a AWC rerun, perhaps??

or maybe for those who havn't done the update, backup your registry into a file first before installing the updated AWC as when anything goes wrong, e.g. AWC went into trial mode, you can jus install the already backup registry file on your system. that way, the updated AWC shd register itself again.
