Click on the download now and install it, after that you can get your free full key by entering your e-mail and your name. They will send it to that address. My brother installed a new cdrw drive, everything seems to be working fine except the nero we got with it. This is a really good program though.

Download it soon and get your free key to unlock the software. I don't think this offer is going to be available that much longer.

Many thanks, Michelle. I zoomed straight there and downloaded it. The details say the free offer is available until 21st of June, but they reserve the right to close the offer at any time, so as you say, it's wisest to get it asap.
This looks like a really worthwhile addition to my DVD utilities.

For those that wanted this and thought they had missed out, this freebie is still good. Download it now as it was supposed to end on the 21st of this month (June). It is now the 24th. It may not hang around too much longer. This is a pretty good utility for those looking for another burning software option.

If you got in on the version 5 free offering of this you will probably want to upgrade to this one. It offers a bit more than version 5.

Be sure to right click and "save as" to your hard drive. Trying to just clik on the download link may result in a corrupted download file.

    Features at a glance

    What’s new:

Discs can now be verified immediately without being ejected first (if the drive supports this feature)
Numerous other small improvements that make the program easier to use and more effective

    What’s cool:

Just wanted to let any new members know that this offer is still working and valid! Even though on the webpage is says that the offer expired in June, I gave it a try anyway, and low and behold, I got my full key from them. Once again, Michelle, a BIG Thank You direct from me to you!! :-)

@Plankje - Hmmmm.... I went to that link, and downloaded the file, but then got to looking things over. The photo on that link page shows Ashampoo Burning Studio 5. Then I compared file sizes between this one, and the version 6.5 that I downed last night. This new version is half the size of the 6.5 version. More hummmm for me... So, then I went to Ashampoo's website and did a search for version 2008, and couldn't find a thing.

Anyone have any information on the difference between these two versions.. 6.5 verses 2008? I'm just wondering if it's legit.

  8. It's confusing, but I did installed the thing and it really says 2008.
I just posted a screenshot on my website http://mozeskriebel.com
You can take an free account om Ashampoo, I did. And on my free-registration-codes page is also says Ashampoo® Burning Studio 2008 (F_vnu_gb).
In the about box there's -Ashampoo Burning Studio 2008,version 7.01-

    Fine with me,
I did use version 2007 (also free) and now 2008 ;-)

  9. Which free accounts work? - They wouldn't accept my @sneakemail.com or @hotmail.com accounts. I'm not about to give them my primary account so it can get spammed.

  10. They accept Gmail accounts.
And yes I do get a lot of spam. That's why I do have a seperate Gmail account for this kind of stuff. BTW Gmail's spamfilter isn't that bad.

I went ahead and installed 2008, and quickly found some things of interest. Overall, Version 6.5 is much superior to Version 2008. In Version 2008 there are only about 2/3 of the functions of 6.5, for example the ability to burn DVD movies is absent in 2008. The ability to backup and restore files and folders is also absent in 2008.

Just goes to show you, newer is not always better.....

Still and all, I do thank you, Plankje, for taking the time to share that information! In the spirit of things here, it was very kind of you!

  12. You're welcome.

Didn't know that. I did use version 2007, which is also without the ability to burn DVD movies. So installed the 6.5 version as well and you are right, it's more complete.
I now have 3 versions installed on my notebook and they all work ;-)
Think I'll keep the 6.5 next to Starburn (giveaway).

That's because that 2008 is actually a little misleading it's version 5 and they have been giving that offer away for quite some time. The 6.5 is actually a higher version.

That makes sense to me, both because of the increase in function in 6.5, and because of the photo that I made mention of on the download page of the "2008" version. It clearly shows the boxed art to say 5. I wonder, then, how they get away with calling it version 7.01 in the About text box?
