   Does anyone know why I cant open archmade? i downloaded it 4 times both from the main and the mirror link and still getting the error page after installation saying (it has encountered a problem and needs to close)... the game looks interesting in the review pages and i want to be able to play it myself...please help before the promotion ends. ta :(

   These are the system requirements for ArchMage:

   Win 2000/XP, PC 1GHz or higher, 3D video card with OpenGL support

   Does your computer meet these requirements, including OpenGL?

   ok. i hav to admit that i dont know much about computers. mine is winXP, but im not sure about a video card. lol! <stop rollin ur eyes lol> anyways, other games are working fine on my computer like the last 2 giveaway games.

   OK. Could you do the following for me?

   Please run "dxdiag" (start->run programs->type "dxdiag" and hit enter)

   The bits in yellow on THIS and THIS are what I'm interested in.

   What do yours say?

   I think I might be having the same problem. I have a brand new pc with Vista Home Premium, 2GB's RAM, a brand new 256MB GEForce 8600 GTS overclocked vid card.

   Game installed fine I think.(no errors)

   But I can't launch the game. Immediately crashes back to desktop, telling me it has to close. Doesn't give any explanation as to why. I have my vid card set to allow application to use preferred settings. Not sure what's up. Any suggestions?

   Finally able to launch it, but error page came back after a few minutes. I think i just pass this game, beside, i had the same problem the other have...ie cant see my character and am shooting in shadows. (i think is to do with my video card (if theres any in my laptop)) hehehe

    leah, as we worked out offline - your card doesn't have OpenGL support. It is falling back to DirectX mode - but with only 16MB of available memory - it probably doesn't have enough to load all of the textures (graphics/pictures) - so it just displays black areas instead.

    I don't know there is a great deal you can do with most laptops - If you want better graphics or video - most people purchase a newer laptop with the features they want.

    Most companies write off computers over 3-4 years - which in computer years is probably 15 human years. :P
