I would suggest if you're on XP do a repair install. Then update your system with hot fixes etc.

I have a problem similar with IE, MajorGeeks and I would think spybot search and destroy.

I beleive that spybot search and destroy has put an entry to a certain download site via majorgeeks which when I click it says 'you are forbidden from downloading this file', I can't remember what file it was, I think I know but it's alleged currently and don't want to make accusations, however anything else is fine.

Is this a similar scenario?

The fact you cannot download normally - makes me suspect the problem isn't with DAP but is something much more fundamental.

OK - Good news and bad news. Problem might be caused by software or hardware.

Please run "dxdiag" (start->run programs->type "dxdiag" and hit enter)

if possible, could you post the full text of the error message (perhaps upload a screenshot to imageshack.us). Sometimes if someone can see the error message it might mean something to them (instead of just "an error message" or "fatal error")

I'm having a different problem & am unsure to start a new topic or not.
Today's game giveaway, "Robo Ball" downloaded/activated and installed w/o a problem. On the game comments section there are eight (8) people including myself that are getting a "fatal error" message when we try to play the game. I'm running XP-2 and have never had this problem before. - A few others expressed the same.
I've closed all windows - Ran "AdAware-SE", ran "Advanced Window Care" (Pro & Basic) and rebooted. Then tried to play the game without any other windows open.
I see the game trying to load; but all I get is a loud "thump" followed by a "Fatal Error" message. I am stumped as what to do next. Can anyone suggest what else to try ?
Thanks

What browser are you using?

Have you tried the mirror site/link?

Do you have problems downloading large files from other sites or is it only GOTD you cannot download from?

Do you get any error messages or indication as to what the problem might be?

Have you also had problems downloading without using DAP?

Some download servers do not like certain download managers/accelerators because they can place the server under additional workload.
