DigitalGoth said:

'One last thing. Does anyone really use the word "GOSH" anymore? It makes me feel as if I am visiting a nunnery.'

......Not only 'gosh' but 'golly,' 'gee whiz,' 'sheesh!,' 'darn!' and 'groovy!' are frequently used out here, deep in the Missourah woods. I'll refrain from mentioning any Navyspeak used tho ...

As for milk 'n cookies .. it beats having to ask one of the grandkids for technical support, particularly with a background including avionics instructor and 'B' level 2M tech. Sheesh!

***
I gave up on the Magic Score program .. but found a terrific use for the font and graphics included with the download! They work beautifully for scrapbook embellishments, particularly for my Dad's pages (he was one of the great Swing Era musicians, writing and arranging music and playing for the Big Bands before he was old enough to vote).

No worries DigitalGoth,

The milk and cookies was just me being in a silly mood. If anyone should wear the nerd or geek t-shirt proudly it's me - and milk and cookies, should've probably been Jolt and Pizza.

And my rushed first draft used another four letter word... I quickly went back and edited the post (hopefully before anyone else noticed), now you mention it I'm equally surprised that GOSH was the word that jumped into my head - maybe because I am so used to typing GOTD. :)

BuBBy said:

"The software does appear to be fully registered - as shown in the Help-> About."

Today, upon starting the program it appears to be fully functional. Yesterday that was not the case. I started it many times but the program kept asking to be registered.

BuBBy said:

"Gosh I hope I'm right... they guys on the GOTD team had a rough enough day yesterday - I wouldn't wish another on my worst enemy."

This is the only problem I have ever had with GOTD. The service is unique and certainly has brought me many useful programs for my personal use. My post yesterday--after reading it again today--was too strong. I don't mind being called a "nerd" (I often call myself that) but the idea of being paid "milk and cookies" for years of hard work and study set me off. You wouldn't believe the number of times I have been asked to dinner by Scrooges. I should have used softer words and I apologize. Even if the program had never activated I appreciate what GOTD offers to us each day.

Please let the team know I will post a link to my business site today and mail a special newsletter to my customers telling them to visit GOTD. It is my way of showing appreciation.

One last thing. Does anyone really use the word "GOSH" anymore? It makes me feel as if I am visiting a nunnery.

Tried playing with this program a couple times today .. always able to duplicate the original fault, despite removal/replacement .. it wants to be purchased. It still shows no serial number, so it appears some of the features are still locked.

Has there been any resolution to the problem?

I ran activate first - then I was told the program was activated - and redirected to the GOTD Activated webpage.

Closed down the Activation webpage - and ran setup.

Then launched the Program - started without any problem - went to Help about - Told me it was registered. Been playing the sample files etc. Works fine (using internal sound card sounds - haven't bothered to hook up midi to my keyboard yet. Might try that tomorrow.

Running on XP SP2. (I also noticed in the program news that the client downloads - it mentions that the other more advanced/expensive packages have been recently updated to be compatible with Vista. I can only assume the same applies with this version - but I might be wrong).

Close the program and reopen it and it should be gone.

I install software first, close it when done then activate.

I decided to try out what problems have been written.

I guess wake ran activate, then installed the app.

I did it this way, it did display a buy now, even though about said it's licenced.

I then closed app and opened and buy nag screen has gone.

It's now full.

I am getting the "Buy Now" option when I start up the program, and I am wondering if that is simply misleading, something the coder forgot to take out when it's a fully registered program. I went through the activation/setup process correctly (like it says in readme.txt) like always, and it told me it was successful. I have the same "Licensed to Giveawayoftheday" on the About page. Maybe one of the mods or someone who knows something about it could shed some light on this?

The activation does not work, period. Since I am using Windows Vista my first thought was that the program was not Vista capable. Yet, all of the other Give Away of the Day programs have activated without a problem. This leads me to think that the activation file is botched.

The number of users with the same problem here requires more than "milk and cookies" to fix. Let's get an activation code to these fine people using your otherwise great service.

Send my activation code to donscott@scottsmobile.com please. I am considering putting a link on my webpage but not if 100 of my customers email or call me on problems such as these.

Actually most of the giveaways never prompt for a registration or a key at all. That part is all handled for you by Activate.exe

Usually though, the giveaways that require manual entry of a name & key are the ones that have the most problems (something about cut & paste that just stumps some people).

Personally I prefer the automatic entry type - or even better the all-in-one setup.exe (then it really takes some talent for people to run the wrong file).

The next step in making the giveaways even easier - they send a nerd around to your house to install it for you. (you just supply the milk and cookies). ;)

The software does appear to be fully registered - as shown in the Help-> About.

I've seen many other programs that do not display the serial number - to prevent "casual users" (perhaps in a classroom) stealing the registration keys.

Definitely 2 values were used during activation - which I can only assume were the "Giveawayoftheday" and the serial number.

Gosh I hope I'm right... they guys on the GOTD team had a rough enough day yesterday - I wouldn't wish another on my worst enemy.

Missing serial key for this program; nothing in the Readme file, nor was there a pop-up window with the information.

With the program open, I clicked on Help > Registration; the resulting window shows program registered to Giveawayoftheday but Serial Key information is blank. Clicking on Help > About shows the program registered to Giveawayoftheday, no serial key given.

The program wants me to go to the website for purchase. It's too early (late?) to troubleshoot .. will sleep on this problem and wait to see if others experience the same thing.

Should be a great program .. it's been a while since I picked up the old trumpet, and I just might have motivation to do so now. Gee..won't the neighbors be surprised!
