Good Idea - I'll pass the bbPress idea on - maybe even if the checkbox to "email on new posts to favorites" was on the favorites page (as well as the RSS link)

Thanks, Bubby. While it's more of a bbPress shortcoming than GOTD, it would be nice if they modded the script to put a 'make this thread one of my favorites' checkbox next to the submit button...

Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for another program to do what StarBurn was supposed to.

sure there is an email notification (it's buried fairly deep though)

Up the top right of the screen it should say

"Welcome (username)" "view your profile"

Well click on "view profile" - on the next screen (at about the same location - top right) there should be 3 options "Profile - Edit - Favorites"

Click on "Edit" and there will be an option on the next screen.

Notification by e-mail - Send me a message when a new entry is posted in one of my favorites.

If you enable that, an email will be sent when someone replies to your "favorite" topic .

You add topics to your favorites - towards the top left of each topic screen.

You manage favorites from your profile screen (remember those 3 options - Profile/Edit/Favorites ?) - or click on the '?' next to "add to favorite" on the topic screens.

Naturally - you can also subscribe to your "Favorite" topics via a RSS feed.

Well I do use a proxy, but it's just a local one for an ad-filtering program, Proxomitron (so I set my browser to point to localhost:8080).

In any case, being a newcomer to these forums, I just realized that there's no email notification of a response, only an RSS feed. So by now it's too late and I've missed out on the program anyway...

In your internet connection settings - check if you have a "proxy" specified. Try removing it (ie. do not connect via a proxy server) and see if that helps. Other users with this problem found that "fixed" it.

I've never successfully installed a GOTD program. I always follow the instructions in the readme.txt, I always try the installation within the "Active time left:", but always always always get the error message "Fatal error: key is invalid."

Is there a way to fix this, or do I just stop trying?
