Looking at my email Robert has been sending me a lotta messages lately.

So Graylox I guess that means if/when you get tired of talking to us you can just PM yourself and carry on both sides of the conversation. Good way to find someone who agrees with everything you say....LOL

@graylox: the email that you receive when you get a new PM doesn't directly point to the PM. It all depends on what account you're logged in at the time.

2-Sheds is correct; you need to have the level permissions. As owner of my IRC bot, I had privy to passwords and messages. Only level 500(bot owner) had the capability. My Admins and Ops(499 to 300) didn't.

Yep.I did type graylox in both messages.
But..I didn't add 'notblockblox' to join the conversation in my second ghost message.

I also got an email letting me know I had sent a PM, and was amused by that, since I knew I had sent it. Did think that was rather strange and unnecessary tho'.

Yes, the two grayloxes can chat via PM and I can read this highly interesting conversation in my graylox/notblocklox account - both sides. But your message to old-lox didn't come.
Usually I get in my email account the notice that old-graylox got a PM, but the link goes to new-graylox without showing the message. But this email arrives hours later.

The old-graylox is still there, I can go to the profile and it has my avatar, but I can't log in and can't see the PMs.

So,...the system remembers notblocklox being graylox(thus the two grayloxes)
And you are still able to send messages using your graylox account...but you can't receive any.Whew..

Yes, do inform us as I've not seen this option anywhere on the admin side. As far as I know, I can only see your PM's if you add me to the discussion.

Never claimed to be an expert. I also said "most likely moderators" because it would depend on the permission level granted to moderators here. If you're looking for more info on the subject, Google is your friend.

graylox/notblocklox got a PM and under "Members" are 2 x graylox.
I clicked on the one in italic (unread) and came to my old and original graylox profile, from there I sent a PM to graylox and got it in my new graylox/notblocklox PM box. I answered to the old graylox and got even that in my new graylox box.

I'm with goodgotd here. Nobody should assume your "private" messages here at GOTD are private. The site works from WordPress not something like VBulletin where there's actually a private messaging system. More and likely, admins and most likely moderators have access to all PM's here regardless of who sent a PM to who. In other words, your PM isn't public but it isn't private either.

The system didn't give any error message when sending a test email to "graylox".
You can even invite others to share this ghost message.LOL.
But on the other hand it didn't tell me I sent a PM ,as usual.So it's probably lost in cyberspace too.

well, as to unintended consequences: that is the rule, rather than the exception when dealing with a global audience. Or just a bunch of individuals. So goes the internet.

I'm not exactly a coward, but loath to give opinions since they are mine own alone. OTOH, I am both a bit of a privacy nut and strongly opinionated. And way out of step with a *lot* of folks- a fair many that think they know how I'm going to react get caught off-balance. :)

I had hypothesized something had created a folded hypercube out of your original graylox account, from the (sort of) aggressive way you've tended to use variable aliases lately.

By the way when s.o. will send me a PM, please never TYPE graylox into the address box, that will never reach me. "graylox" is lost in cyberspace and I can't access it. (It's a long and complicated story...)
This account is still called "notblocklox", better you just click on "PM this user".
So, if you are wondering why you never got an answer on your PM - this could be the reason.

Goody, quite possibly the person who knotted you and some others to this L-furball, is no longer so happy with his choice. The replies he got are most likely not what he wanted to hear.

the first rule of a pm is: it ain't private. the second is it ain't permanent or unchangeable.

the thread I referred to (just unsubsrcibed, also have no idea how I got into the furball) was over a recent controversy on the forums here. no tv shows. never heard of the L word. but then, I rarely watch commercial tv the same way many seem to. and game shows I actively avoid for the most part.

if a pm thread has any value or interest, (the one I touched on really had none, not my scene) I select and copy the text and paste into a text file, then save in my J:/!gaotd directory tree before unsubscribing. that way I can restart with full history without retyping. or remembering.

funny thing, delenn, I have and thoroughly enjoyed/enjoy all of babylon 5 (now on dvd, but had [still have] it on vhs tape) including movies, specials and crusade as far as it lasted, used to be into Voyager (dunno what I still have- first season and the end returning to earth IIRC) and due to a request from a neighbor, all of Lost though I've never watched any. now I know Mira's there I might give it a look. hmmm...

OTOH, I have both seasons of the Addams Family plus both Raul Julia movies. and get smart. and columbo....

So what it boils down to is...never keep anything you really need in your PM's because you end up deleting them to make room for new ones.

However, it's right genre, wrong TV show. My nick/avatar is from the sci-fi show Babylon 5. Mira Furlan/Delenn was, also, the crazy French lady on the island in Lost. Capt. Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew, was on Star Trek:Voyager. Both are fine actresses and 2 of my favs.
