(a simple mouse-over gave me instant access to a color-coded screen of 200 programs - One click and any of the 200 were running - No searching through directory trees and files). When I did need to go into Start &gt; Programs, Tidy Menu made it a breeze.</p> <p>Once Aston is fully loaded I will have Quick Launch and perhaps retain one column of hidden menu (working as a second Quick Launch).</p> <p>You should take a look at Tidy Menu if your setup is such a mess. The free version gives you a bunch of standard categories to place programs into. The Full version allows you to create your own categories also. The best solution is to use the free version to automate most of the sorting, then if you wish to make extra categories, do it manually by creating the folders in Start Menu &gt; Programs then sort your remaining programs into those folders. I remember playing with that when it was a lot less feature complete and even back then I remember thinking how nice it was.</p> <p>Since then I've almost completely given up on my start menu altogether. The fact is, my start menu is just so ridiculously large (across almost 2 monitors) that finding stuff is just crazy.</p> <p>The solution I found - launchy.</p> <p>Launchy has almost 100% replaced my start menu - and it's faster than trying to manually locate items by several seconds. It takes about 10 minutes to read a help file and get used to it. Afterwards you will wonder how you managed without it. It really cleans up and organizes your start menu tree - Saves a deal of manual work on the tidy up and leaves the menu far easier to navigate. Just found Vista Start Menu, which is from the same developer. It has a freeware version which I have played with for 30 minutes, and it is a really nice piece of software. Has a couple of small bugs but they will be ironed out. For anyone running Aston Shell with a Vista theme, this menu fits right in with the GUI - looks good. It sits in the task tray and opens mid desktop.</p> <p>Anyhow Mr. Admin., any chance of getting the PRO version as a GOTD giveaway?
