Well I now have 100% success. But I am also using another GAOTD program called "Flash Save" with "Web Stream Recorder Pro" with "You Tube". I can get "Web Stream Recorder Pro" to work alone sometimes. If you want to try, have no open players open in a broswer (better yet have no browsers open, period). Then open "Web Stream Recorder Pro" and then open up a "You Tube" URL. Although sometimes "Web Stream Recorder Pro" locks up on me.

What is working 100% of me is to open up the "You Tube" video and while it is playing, use "Flash Save" to copy to the URL to the clipboard. Now open "Web Stream Recorder Pro" and it grabs that URL. Also best to close this browser with "You Tube". Another "New Recording" window will popup, but just cancel that one. And it works fine.

Neither "Flash Save" nor some other stream recorders likes the URL that "Flash Save" produces. As it saves a 23kb file which seems worthless. But "Web Stream Recorder Pro" deals with it fine and saves the real thing. Hopefully I will work more on this later and on other computers so I can find a better way to do this.

Hahaha... I gave this "Web Stream Recorder Pro" another try. As I haven't had much luck with it at all (and I have used others that do work well). Well I finally saved my first You Tube video. But I can only do it like 1 out of 10 tries. Most of the time "Web Stream Recorder Pro" just freezes up and I have to force it to close. I mean it freezes up right at the point where it is supposed to grab the URL of the video. And to get it to work at all, I have to have the New Recording window open to have any luck at all. Anybody knows what I am doing wrong here? lol

Hello,

I downloaded this ware and installed, but everytime I run it, it keeps asking for user name and serial number!!! I thought this was a free download. OR, how do we get a valid Serial Number for the same. I even sent an email to the support group at -- support@sytexis.com . I did not receive any response / serial key from them too.

I already tried reinstalling a couple times, as well as uninstalling and then installing (as opposed to just running the setup.exe while it's already installed, which should've worked anyway). I also tried separately uninstalling WinPCAP (I already had it on my computer from former programs.. I think from a packet sniffer or two) but.. yet again.. it still wouldn't work.

I really don't care much anymore. I just thought it would be a nifty program, not exactly something I essentially need. I'm sure I can just find a freeware version that runs better if I need to.

By the way, I read you said you'll need more people if you do something like wink. I'd be willing to volunteer if you need any extra hands?

It didn't work for me. I successfully installed but when I try to open it from my start menu (or just directly open wsrecorder.exe) it says "Main executable has encountered a problem and needs to close." I tried reinstalling, and I tried not copying the .cfg yet to see if that caused any problems. I also tried ending all my processes and trying to open it with a (relatively :P) clean slate. I have no clue what's wrong, and I'd like to fix it before the giveaway period ends ;)

Anyone have any ideas?

1. I see it installs winpcap. When newer versions of winpcap come up, will we be able to remove the old version and install the new version and it will (should) still work?

2. The "tip of the day" contained some very interesting information. Be sure to read them :-) Tetris? :-)

3. Suggestions for the confusion factor being expressed in the comments...

3a. GAOTD, I think the readme could be just a tad more precise. The activate popup looks fairly good and precise, maybe having the readme have a copy of that wording would help? Would numbered steps help any? I know several don't have a problem with getting it registered, but on these "trickier" registration steps, this ~might~ help others a little.

3b. Freebe for GAOTD: Since some folks are visual learners. There is an excellent cool free program called "wink" (http://www.debugmode.com/wink/) that allows you to make/record/edit visual isntructions out of what you are doing on the Windows desktop into a adobe flash (swf) file that users could watch from your web page. Very cool, very easy, and lots of features. You could put one together for each package (not that you don't already have enough to do getting the package ready, I am sure), and make it available. ~Maybe~ this would cut back on confusion? ;-)

4a. As for sara47 and the windows extracting zips, Windows XP does have zip extraction capabilities, but not earlier versions of Windows (like 2000, etc). I think you just right click on the zip file, and there is an extract feature you can select that places the files in the current folder.

Thanks for all of your efforts to bring us free software!

You can use a combination of tools to get the bbc radio.

If you need help finding the stream url, you can use a url snooper.
Then just copy the streaming url into whatever program you choose to
use to record. I would recommend using the Windows Media Player
version of the stream, then you can use SDP to record it.
