You may be right, but I do think quality will suffer. Most of the arcade games that have been churned out over the last few years are almost carbon copies of each other; take for example the Janes Hotel and the Farm Frenzy games (I bought three of the Farm Frenzy games but decided to stop becasue they were basically the same game with a few graphical changes). There's very little difference between so many of these games now, which is one of the reasons they can sell them for such low prices. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the low prices, especially if it opens up the market to those who can't afford more, but if quality suffers I think it will be a great shame.

Thankfully theres a growing Indie market where prices are higher. I really don't mind paying more for a quality game. So long as you get a decent amount of game play and theres some replayability, I think its worth paying extra for.

My gut feeling is that game prices will continue to drop. There is a lot of competition amoung the game makers and distributors. I believe that many games will sell for $4.99 with daily specials around $1.99 in the near future. The game makers are able to crank out games at an astonishing rate and other than the time spent putting together the games, what costs are there with selling online. Once the economies improve, there may be some increases in prices but comsumers will be used to paying the lower prices and will be resistant to increases. Companies like Sandlot with their free game a week and Reflexive with their low priced daily specials are changing the market for online games. (IMHO)

maybe, but I don't see how developers can maintain the quality of games that used to be released for such low prices. Even the big bucks games have come down in price over the last couple of years. It was unheard off that a newly released game would be reduced from over £30 to less than £6 in less than 3 months (though the reduction is only temporary). Some of these games are costing millions to develop. If prices remain as they are or the trend continues to see reduced prices I really do think quality will suffer.

:)

Doesn't amazon own reflexive? I got one game off reflexive and that was given free for their anniversary one year. I noticed all games on there used to cost $19.99 on there and believe it or not there are still some sites where they still cost $19.99 for the same game you can pay $6.99 for.

I don't believe prices are going to go up (casual game prices). I think they will always be $6.99 for funticket and bigfishgames. Bigfishgames has collector games and Gamehouse has premium games (games that cost $19.99 or in Bigfishgames case $19.95. Some are full price and to get them you can't use a funticket or coupon code.

Hi Dolores, glad you now like the game. I seem to remember not liking it that much the first time I played it, but only because I found it really difficult to progress initially. Once I'd sussed the controls and what the power ups did it became much more enjoyable.
I used to buy all my games from Reflexive, but once i had to start re installing the games I found it annoying that you had to reapply for a new registration code, so stopped buying them (though I did buy over 800 o the things over a period of about 2 years 9I actually bought them because I found they really helped with my pain mangement. unfortunately it was when all arcade games cost $19.99, so I paid far too much compared to todays prices.

I'm just wondering when prices will start to rise again. Which I think they inevitably will do once we've fully recovered from this economic downturn. :)

No problem. I haven't been on the computer much. I think I missed yesterday's. I am pretty sure that game for today was already offered. I think I downloaded it for my brother already.

I had received the punch card reward credit code from BFG yesterday and was trying to decide if I wanted to get The Great Tree or Pahelika: Secret Legends. Now one is one sale and the other is offered tomorrow on Gamehouse. Life is good. Thanks Michelle for the heads up. I would have purchased Pahelika today but now I still have a credit code.

WR - I originally downloaded Troll when it was offered on GGOTD. I didn't like it at the time and uninstalled it. This time I am enjoying the game.
