Thank you Robert and Damian, I changed the topic.
I know Baleseo as a reputable developer and can't think of any malware in their products.
But as I didn't download this GOTD I could not check this assertion. I had installed this programme some time before it became a giveaway and have no problems with it.

Happy New Year to all of you.

Now I am not an expert on things ,but dbpropp's problems are most probably the result of a failed installation or a messed up registry.
In fact I'm sure of it.
:)

Explorer Context Menu is a very good program that is used by programmers to add extensions in the context menu of explorer and is used in installation packages.
It's a plain installation routine so you shouldn't find the program on your HD.

But again it's no "pirate ware" or whatever and people ought to be more careful before making allegations that could harm a company's reputation.

Fileminimizer Pictures and FILEminimizer Office from Baleseo are both excellent programs.

The only logical solution would have been to uninstall and re-install the program.

So this thread really should be renamed to "Installation problems with Fileminimizer".

Happy New Year y'all !

PS It's always nice to see you in the forum,Damian!
:)

Do you know what pirateware/warez material is? A program that downloads and installs programs without your consent is called a downloader not what you are calling it.

A lot of programs have bundles. They are not considered downloaders. Realarcade has one for Google Chrome and it drove me nuts all the time to the point I installed it. They are not considered downloaders because you agreed to install it.

There are a lot of other places that bundle toolbars too with downloaded programs. It is really the same thing. One is free and one isn't, That is the only thing here. They all hope you don't read what you are installing and accept the user agreement. I installed Google Chrome that way, but it is not hurting anything.

I don't even know if your claim is true. I didn't install it nor do I have any need for it. But pay a little more attention to what you are installing. Sometimes we don't and we get hurt like you did or it just sits there like Google Chome is doing now.

I don't like bundles unless it is a game bundle.

i also have had no problems with the program, this giveaway or any prior Balesio giveaways...

other members believe there is a problem, as previously reported here:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/6748

if anything else was installed with the giveaway, i believe it would have been reported during the installation time-frame...surely many community members security software would've reported it?...

I completely agree with you Robert - this post is utter nonsense, wherever dbpropp got this Context Menu Platinum certainly had nothing to do with Balesio, any installation monitoring software will clearly prove it...

BTW - Happy New Year!

Fileminimizer has been running smoothly on my system ever since it was a Gotd.
There's no such thing as a co-installed 'pirate software'.So you should think twice not to launch false accusations towards Balesio, let alone spreading rumors in forums.

Btw Explorer Context Menu Platinum is a shareware software for appending custom items to the explorer shell menu.(latest version is 4.20)

If you installed the giveawayoftheday offering "FILEminimizer by Balseo" a few weeks ago, you will probably start having serious problems. Without your knowledge or consent, it installed a piece of garbage called "Context Menu Platinum". Right about now the "trial" period of this pirateware is expiring. You will find that you will not be able to start Microsoft Word (or other programs) while in your browser. When you try to start Word (or whatever), you will get a nag screen from this program that makes you wait a full minute before giving you the option to "Continue Trial" - or of course you can purchase it for an outrageous amount of money (I checked their website).

You will NOT BE ABLE TO START WORD or other programs unless you chose one of the above options. At the very least, you will have to deal with this nag window and stop work while you wait for the timer to count down.

I wrote them a very stern letter demanding they tell me how to get rid of it, but I found out how to do so with a little research. The solution I found was on:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/887682-context-menu-platinum-problem-solved.html

The solution is to open the Program management function in Control Panel ("Add/Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" depending on your op. system). Use that to delete/remove the program named "FILEminizer" - and that should elminate this pirate-ware as well (or at least disable it).

GAOTD TEAM - I know you guys do a great job of screening software that's given away on your site, but it looks like you let this one slip through. Hope this helps those who, like me, got stuck with this pirate-ware, and I suggest you NEVER trust software from Balseo.
