Triphammer and Lee, refresh rate is max 60Hz for DVI and 75Hz for analog. But <60Hz DVI> is better than <75 Hz Analog>. With DVI connection graphics card is building image by the scheme «digital- digital». With analog connection the scheme is «digital- analog- digital». This double transformation is making worse the signal. If you use analog signal you must tune up the image, With DVI connection graphics card tune up the image itself. I work with DVI and 60 Hz – and I haven’t problems (as too choppy in movement) with games as Serious Sam 2 or Worms3D. But response time of my LCD is 8ms.

LadyGodiva, the information about resolution is available after 1st turning on. And before game is added to site - is not difficult to turn game on.

Tavork, most times that information isn't available to post along with descriptions. Checking the game's home page will usually give more specific information but often anything specifically on screen resolution is missing from there as well.

Can't do 60 hz gives me a headache so I always got with 75 hz

6 years old, still works like the day I paid for it.

I haven't used DVI out yet. I question the 60Hz you mentioned though. Refresh rate set for 60 Hz seems WAY slow IMO. Anything below 75 seems way to choppy in the graphics area. My 3D rendering becomes unplayable below 75. WAY too choppy in movement. I do ALOT of gaming online running games like Battlefield 2142. The games I play are real intensive on the cpu and graphics card. BUT... I am running analog... so maybe that's why I find the best at 75 Hz.

My LCD doesn't have DVI "in". Just the analog port. So another monitor definitely.

If I changed to using the DVI... is there that much of a difference in the video? I kinda always looked at it like another option to hook up a monitor (but never used).

Use DVI and 60 Hz - this is the best mode for LCD
75 Hz is maximum for modern LCD with the analog signal

I run 1280 x 1024 @ 32 bit for most games on my LCD. I only seem to get a problem when displaying more than 75hz for a refresh rate... In fact if I do set it above that, the monitor blacks out with an "Out of Range" message and resets to 75 Hz. It's been this way for several LCD's I've had. I'm running a 19" now. I miss the 85 hz available on the old CRT. My games were so smooth in motion it was like watching a movie. I'm trying to find the next step up in my display. I was thinking of using my "Video Out" on the graphics card (set the graphics card for TV out) and running to a High Definition Television. I haven't really thought it out or looked into it, but any ideas?

The best case: specify minimum and maximum.
Here games with 1600x1200 are rarity

Wouldn't the MINIMUM game resolution be more appropriate?

eg. if a game can run at 1024x768 as well as 1600x1200 - the lower resolution would be the compatible resolution most likely to work for the LCD monitor.

Please specify the maximum resolution in descriptions of games.
It's important information for LCD monitors.
