I thought it was going to mess with my desktop icons, but after a few seconds everything reverts back to normal. (I'm still using XP) but the program you suggest is a good idea as some of the games we post in this project do cause problems with screen resolutions etc. You've given me an idea. I may post a guide to the ins and outs of playing freeware and abandonware games (lol). There are several things to watch out for such as a lack of a full installer with many of the games we post, or using DOSBox with most of the DOS games (which wizzard has already covered), or no shortcut being installed. Despite the hassles what did you think of Jetball? I though it was quite entertaining in small doses. Though I was only playing single player. I reckon it could be a lot more fun playing it with a friend or friends in multiplayer. Anyway, the following game was originally posted as part of the Halloween games I posted for Fridays games, but somehow I deleted the last section of my post when proof reading it with the editor open. I didn't realise until earlier this evening. In Rogue Guardian there is no real story, you just have to hunt all your enemies. Why? You may ask, well they are intent on infecting you and the whole world with ‘thee’ vampire virus. If you’re caught and infected you’ll wander the earth for an eternity with an ever present thirst for blood; what’s more, you’ll be confined to the hours of darkness; no longer being able to watch the sun rise. <center><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss160/Whiterabbit04/Freeware%20games/Rogue%20Guardian/300%20x%20225/RogueGuardianmainmenu003.jpg"></center> Weapons are scarce and the only weapons you have a available are daggers’ which have to be recovered and reused. You can recover easily them from fallen foes as well as those that missed the target by walking past them, or jumping up for them If you are on a high platform take care where you throw the knives because you may find them irretrievable. Thankfully there are extra knives scattered throughout the levels. Monsters rarely come alone, so it’s always handy to have a good supply of weapons. <center><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss160/Whiterabbit04/Freeware%20games/Rogue%20Guardian/300%20x%20225/RogueGuardianmainmenu005.jpg"></center> The scenery has foreboding cemeteries, badly lit castles and shadowy dungeons where apart from the ever present danger of being attacked by vampires you have to find and collect Gold (well euro’s actually), of different denominations. For every 50 Euros you find, you can buy three new daggers, so make sure you pick up all the money. :) It’s your only chance of survival, haha ha ha haaaa. The daggers are treated with consecrated holy water to ensure maximum damage. :) <center><img src="http://i571.photobucket.com/albums/ss160/Whiterabbit04/Freeware%20games/Rogue%20Guardian/300%20x%20225/RogueGuardianmainmenu006.jpg"></center> You have a maximum of five lives. If you lose one there are health phials scattered around the levels. These will recover one lost life but won’t add any extra to the five you have. Any contact with a vampire or other monster will automatically take away one of your lives. If you lose all your lives you automatically restart from the beginning of the level. The main menu consists of start game and full screen. The game starts in a window as default, but you can change to full screen if you wish. The graphics are okay at full resolution, though slightly pixilated, that takes little from this retro looking game. NOTE this game supports single player, but multiplayer is where this game really shines. you just have to try to score the ball in your opponent's basket. If you are not an expert on this kind of games, it has a training mode where you can gain access to the practices managing to improve your game level. You start of with a moped delivering goods to a destination on the other side of town while driving your bike through a busy suburban city, where people and other drivers go about there daily business. If you jump red lights or get seen speeding on certain parts you will get a ticket from the local Policeman that seems to hide. Every time you delivery the goods on time you can upgrade your bike to something different and faster. You use the mouse to drive your bikes and it works really well, you have a outlined box on the screen with a arrow, push the arrow to the top for max speed and pull it back to break. On the first screen you get pick the 3rd option to pick you first bike what is a moped. The game graphics and sound are ok and the gameplay is smooth just like riding a real bike.
