Hi Tynnok,

oddly when I deleted the second post I actually forgot who had posted it, though I thought it was you.... but then, seeing your post here I thought "nah" you wouldn't have done that lol

Note that I didn't mention who'd actually posted it, lol

As for my comment about being disappointed. I was actually referring to the full blown game which unlocked in the UK last night. My initial impression was of disappointment as I was expecting something more Oblivion like (graphic wise), but it looks more like a zoomable rts game where you can see a large area (though not as much as a full blown rts).

However, I've not played it much yet, so don't want to say it's not all that the pre relase blurb has been saying about it. :)

The bad thing was about the double post was I posted in the original post.
------------------------------------------------------
Anyhoo

I think they threw this game up to hold over the people that prepurchased the the original game or for marketing for it.
The problem lies in they probably tried to throw this up in a week with the whole group and then had 2 programmers working on the rest of for a month. Which is why, you get the game- week, extra story and playing- 2 programmers for a month, but no video graphics artists to make it pretty.
Such a shame to. Especially when you see amateurs throwing up sweet looking doom games or even the codwaw packages.

I think why its disappointing, is cause there is no flash game for a rpg out there. I guarantee if someone put one out, it would make money from the draw. They would have to be smart in how they designed it, so you could keep leveling, but in different games..
just a thought

The game was double posted so I've deleted the second post as requested. Here's are some images copied from that post as it looks like my photobucket account is not letting me have any more bandwidth. I was hoping after a week the images above would reappear. No matter, the ones above posted by Txnnok and these should suffice to give you an impression of the game:

I've just unlocked the full version game and was not as impressed as I though I was going to be. I was hoping for an Oblivion like look to the game, but it's more like Two worlds/ There is only a third person perspective and to be honest, it almost looks lik a rts game in some ways. Though that's only my first impressions. As has happened before the pre relase videos don't show the true look of the game. All the videos I watched did make it look like it was a close up third person viewpoint, but even at maximum zoom, the game comes no where near the look of Oblivion, which is now over three years old.

I'll post a seperate thread about the game (with images) once I've played it for several days.

regards

Awwmann, I swear it said 7,500 keys in my browser. I couldnt understand why with game that look that nice. I've seen keys for junky looking betas go from there quick.
I've cleared my cache and internet files many times since I signed up, so that is strange.
------
I was just checking and they are about to launch their second beta already. I swear they just throw these sites up. I guess to weed out the people causing problems. Anyway, they are gonna offer a second round of keys to people without keys.
I'll keep an eye out, but anyone interested might preregister just incase.

Looks a fun a game I've been looking for some good browser based games like that. Cool I'll have to check it out I miss the old 2d style. I'm not sure if the battlenet is installed with it, but it make me want to download it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought this was the one told you about awhile back, but I got to checking and it is called Heroes of Gaia. It is another browser based game in beta right now, It is 3d. I managed to create a character, but havent tested it yet.
Since your the Games person, I'll let you decide if it should be posted while in beta.

Looks like it wasnt a popular giveaway, but with a little searching they still have over 7,000 keys left for easy access to beta.

Well I finished Journeys twice (warrior and mage). Needed a second time to try a few things I hadn't done the first time through and get the Amulet of the War Mage. Don't know if I will spend the 3-4 hours it would take me to play through as the rogue to earn the Helm of the Deep, but I may and try a harder difficulty level at the same time. This is definitely a fun browser game, but it really is more of a demo. You just get the first chapter and it leaves the story hanging at that point.

Dragonage looks amazing. After watching several pre release videos and loads of screen captures i pre ordered it without a second thought. I just hope I'm not disappointed. I bought an RPG last month called Risen, which was't all it was made out to be. I got bored with it very quickly after getting killed several times within the first few minutes the game. I like games where you can build up your character and avoid dying every few minutes.

I though I'd post this browser game seperately from the usual browser games thread because I think it's worth highlighting. what we have is a savable RPG browser game based on the soon to be released RPG game Dragonage:Origins. Here's a short review I came across while searching for information about the game.

EA 2D’s free project designed to promote and link into Dragon Age: Origins is a 2D browser based RPG, letting you pick a character from the regular Dragon Age selection and then go exploring in the Dwarven Deep Roads. I wasn’t sure exactly how they’d do it, presuming something very simple, hack-n-slashy, but fun all the same. I wasn’t expecting a fully-fledged RPG with a unique combat mechanic.

I’ve only played briefly so far, but I’m already really pleased with what’s on offer. In fact, so much of it directly reflects the full game, from the content to the screen furniture. Even the tutorial pop-ups are the same. You’ve got an inventory, weapons and armour along with weapons and armour stats (using the very appreciated super-simple window pop-ups for comparing with what you’ve got equipped that’s in the main game). In fact it’s also got the two weapon setup, letting you switch between them during combat. There’s your character’s own stats, with the full range of skills available to pick from as you level up. There’s towns to explore, quests to pick up, merchants to trade with, party members to gather, and plenty of dialogue. I really wasn’t expecting this.

The combat is distinct from DA:O. Here it goes for a super-traditional hex-floored turn-based system, letting you take advantage of flanking moves, a combination of ranged and melee combat, and party tactics. Progress you make, achievements earned, and special quests completed are saved to your EA account (which is increasingly worth having, with this and Burnout Paradise), and then can be applied to the main game with it comes out 3rd November – certain goals will unlock useful items for the daddy game, which is a really splendid way of linking them together.

Like I say, I’ve not got far yet, but far enough to save (!) and come here to tell you about it. I strongly recommend heading to the game’s site and giving it a go – it takes a while to load at the start, but then is swift and smooth, and of course it’s completely free. There are teething problems, but the team seem to be working non-stop, and are fixing bugs within minutes of their being reported

Reference accessed on the 24th October 09 HERE

To be able to save your progress you need to create a free account. This is a really cool browser game that I think I'll be playing a lot off for now; well at least until the game is released in three weeks time. Here are some screen captures of the browser game then of the full un-released game. You can download a character creator for Dragonage:Origins game HERE. It's the actual creator taken from the unreleased game. You can port over any characters you create to the full game when it's released. :) However, it's only worth downloading if you intend buying the game. (Theres two versions, the normal version and a deluxe version that includes extra gameplay content. Check out the official bioware site for more details about Dragonage: Origins HERE
