Watcher I'm in relaxed mode but apparently that time is for all of the levels for the day. Either that or I just used too many hints.

Always remember: copying shortcuts does squat! Always, always, always copy the entire game folder, not just a single executable, as most games consists of the engine and also of game data. Also try to save a copy of the installer as well.

Where you aware there's a "relaxed" mode. Gives you 90 minutes instead of 30. You might have to create a new player to get the offer to play in relaxed mode to come up. I haven't quite figured it out, yet. Right now I'm running a relaxed player and a normal player. You get different objects for each attempt at a screen regardless.

I was able to play Golden Prague directly off the flash drive and then reinstalled it on my hard drive. I didn't know though that you can't use a hint if you have less than 3 minutes left and I couldn't find one object so I have to start all over.

You need to copy the whole files to the flash drive or portable drive. Just copy the yellow folder straight into say ....Games. If you have an icon on the main computer you need to change the Target on that or make a new icon from the flash drive.

I have a portable which I download all my games too from GGOTD and BigFish straight to it. No worries about taking up space on the main computer. When downloading new games just change the directory before you download. Easy.

Except Alawar! As I noticed last week. I lost 28 out of 32 Alawar games by simply creating and using a new Vista User (and removing the old, corrupted, one). 7 of the lost ones were from Alawar's Gamebox "Free Game of the Month".

Anything that's not a standalone may not work from a flash drive anyway. Just depends on how much interaction it needs to have with Windows. No way to tell without just trying it or - for us techy geeks - analyzing it's install routine. The good news, though, is the vast majority of GGOTD games will. Yay!

Thanks but I don't think any of them are worth that much trouble. I empty my Recycle Bin every time I do a Disc Clean which I try to do once a week.

Terri, If you haven't emptied your recycle bin yet, you could try looking there for the games you deleted. If they're not there try using an undelete program. There are many of them but you could try starting with Recuva, a program from Piriform, the same people who make CCleaner. You probably won't be able to recover all of them but you might get some of them back.

Most games are more than a single executable. There are configuration files, music files, levels and all sorts of files that vary depending upon the game. In most cases, even if the game has no links in the registry to cause problems must have the entire folder copied to run. Even then, you will have to create a new shortcut because the old one points to the wrong place and may not be able to find the file.

I was so proud of myself because I transferred all of my Gamehouse Games to a flash drive (or so I thought) and removed them from my hard drive to free up disc space. I tested that they worked before I removed them from my hard drive (or so I thought). Today I tried to play one and discovered that it was only the shortcut that had copied and since the game was no longer on my hard drive, it wouldn't play. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Anyway my question now is for the ones that are still on my hard drive - Do I have to copy the whole folder to the flash drive or only the exe. file?

I'm not TOO upset because knowing Gamehouse they will probably repeat the offers (Today is a repeat of 3 Cards to Midnight).
