Wow that means either we are getting a bargain or you are getting ripped off. The exchange rate is about 1.45 at the moment (calculating from my last PayPal purchase). It's costing £3.75 here in the UK so it should only be $5.43. Still, it's a great bargain at $7.50 IMO. When you consider the average arcade game cost $19.99 2 years ago, it's brilliant.

Still, it's not going to be to everyones taste. :)

Those bargains on D2D were amazing. I bought about 8 games over the five weeks. i had most of the games. Those I bought were mainly those I didn't think were worth full price, but for $5 amazing. I wonder if they will do something similar in 10 years time. :) I think all these bargains are due to the present climate. not many would pay full price for many of the games around at the moment(except idiots like me, lol).

you know I highly recommend Red Faction Guerilla, well I think I've got another that's nearly as good. I've been playing the latest operation Flashpoint for several hours now. initially i found it difficult to play due to the mass of keys you needed to remember, but now that I've got used to it, it's brilliant. It really does give you a feel for really being in the field. I know you don't particularily like squad based games, but this one you've got to try. If thres a demo I'd recommend checking it out. I'm also returning to Drkest of Days as well, which i though was a bit of a flop initially, but I've changed my mind. It's actually a really good game, with some differences that make it worth having in your games library. Being able to play in different theatres of War such as the First World War, American Revolution, Americans v Indians, WWII and back into the dim and distant past it quite an achievement. The sheer number of NPC's that are interacting with you adds to the realism of the game. There are glitches and the AI sometimes seems stupid (such as when you have a fully automatic rifle with sights and a suped up pump action shotgun while fighting Indians 200 years ago, yet no one bats an eyelid) You don't always fight with modern weaons. more often than not you have to use the weapons of the day, which also adds to the interest.

Three highly rated games in my book; (all much better than Saint's row, lol)

It actually comes out to $7.50 for the U.S. which makes this not as good of a deal as it was on Direct 2 Drive for $5 just last week.

You can get Saints Row II an excellent GTA IV clone from Steam for only $5 (£3.75). The offer lasts until Friday 6pm GMT at which point another deal will be set. This is a great bargain. If you like GTA games this is an excellent alternative. It is rather violent so if you abhore those types of games please don't check out the videos I've linked to.

Here's the blurb from Steam:

Saints Row 2 brings true freedom to open-world gaming. Players can play as who they want, how they want, and with whomever they want in this sequel to the much acclaimed and tremendously successful Saints Row.

Set years after the original, the player finds himself in a Stilwater both familiar and strange and challenged with bringing the Saints back as the rightful kings of Stilwater and bringing vengeance to those who wronged him.

Map of Saints Row II

p.p.s.

GTA IV is much better than Saints Row, (IMO), but it's still an acceptable clone with some differences that makes it worth buying if you already own any GTA title. And just a reminder the first two Grand Theft auto games are now freeware though the expansion that includes the London scene isnt. I like the prison escape, which is your starting point in the game. Once you've escaped the prison you've got to ride a river speedboat to escape the river police. Once this is accomplished you go to customize your character, buy some threads then start the game proper. There are missions to accomplish, just like GTA, but you don't have to follow them if you don't want. The whole game world is open to you. you cann explore and interact with hundreds of npc's, drive any vehicle you can find including military vehicles and aircraft. You can find download links for the free versions in the free games synopsis.
