Problem solved, my download manager was the culprit! Once I'd right clicked and 'save target as...' the download went as expected.
Looking forward to a little 'me time' with this one, thanks WR :)

Thanks Ringo... It wasn't taken as a critisism, though I suppose the flavour of my reply may have seemed so. I did use the download link and got the download to work first time each time I tried it.

I was just trying to point out why it may have been inaccesible. :)

Hey Midori, if you like jet pack you'll love this one. Great freebie.

WR
Sorry, I didn't mean for you (or anyone!) to reply so promptly, but thank you :) I also live in the UK, so I know how late/early it is for you!
The broken link I refered to isn't the one you posted for Nameless X1 (which does go to exile.ovine) but their own for the download.
My intention was to inform, rather than critisise. I [i]very much appreciate all the hard work and long hours put into this venture and have links to, and promote this site on my own web-sites.
I agree that some sort of counter to measure the visits would be great. then again, you may be letting yourself in for even more work lol.
I'll try again later today and thanks once again to you and your cohorts for your dedication :)

Hi Ringo, I'd put a } instead of a ]. The link is working now, sorry for the hassle. I followed the link through and got a download working. It is directly from the developers site, which may have bandwidth limitations. I don't know how many community members actually follow these links we post in these forums, so can't be certain whether that was the problem. I know in the past there have been problems downloading games from developers sites through a rush of downloading; as a result of this site 'advertising' the link; but interest seems to have waned over the months. Especially since sites such as Gamehouse give commercial games away every day and other sites are offering new games for very low amounts ((for example, I've just posted about a game called East India Company in another thread), which was released about two months ago and cost nearly $50. You can get it for $5 from Direct2drive this week; so I don't think this freeware thread is getting much attention at the moment. I wish there were a counter telling you how many page views there has been, as that would give an estimate of the communities interest. Thankfully I'm still enjoying posting these games and have a great team in Wizzard and reverseOrder, both of which have done a lot to keep this thread alive (plus occassional help from a few other forum members).

Hi
Seems like the link for the download at the developers site (Nameless) is down for the moment (01.53 GMT). It gives you an aspx doc instead?

Today’s games include an excellent platformer based on the Jetpack series and an excellent Dutch version of Monopoly. I’ve already posted a different version of the game several months ago, which you can find HERE, and which can be downloaded from HERE . Sorry for the delay. Was sidetracked by a really interesting game that I’d planned to post, then discovered I’d already done so, lol. I’ve yet to upload the monopoly images to my photobucket account. Will do so tomorrow.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Nameless X1 : MARS ORBIT (16.6Mb)

This is an excellent Jetpack clone with a massive labyrinth to explore. I’m really into Martian based games at the moment thanks to the red faction games that were given away free when I pre-ordered Red Faction Guerilla several weeks ago. (which is a brilliant game….. you need a high end computer to play it. It’s a free roaming FPS with elements of RPG), so this one caught my eye.

An adventure on a Martian mining base. Armed with a upgradable gun, grenades and a jetpack you have to rescue your buddies and so much more in order to make the base inhabitable.

It's a very large platformer whereby you have to look for keycards, talk to computers; collect crystals, weapon upgrades, grenades, etc. You also can move objects to free a way or to block door switches. You even can place some teleports so you easier can travel through the maze of labs and mine galleries. And of course there are enemies and other dangerous stuff (as meteors, radiation etc). There’s also some excellent sound effects and alien voices, lol.

The save function works great, you have unlimited lives (every time you die you go back to your space shuttle)

The game reminds me of a platformer we were given via the game giveaway project earlier this year (can’t remember the name though).

Controls (redefinable):

Arrows ………………..Move (fly)

F ……………………... Action key (fire, start computer)

Down arrow …………..next page by reading computer messages

G ………………………Throw grenade

C ………………………Tractor on/off (to move objects)

T ……………………….Go back to the teleport

R ……………………….Place a teleport

F8 ……………………..Quick save

F9 ……………………..Quick load

Esc ……………………Back to menu (for save, continue, exit, options etc)

You can download the game via the developers home page HERE. The download link is at the top of the page. You’ll also find a link to a map of the game world on the home page that you can download; which is very useful for navigating around the Labyrinth.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monopoly (1.6Mb)

Here’s a Dutch version of Monopoly. I spent most of the evening preparing a particular game to post only to discover that I’d already posted it several months ago.(I keep forgetting to check the free games synopsis. Consequently I’m a little short of time (need to get to bed) so the following description is a direct translation (using Google translator) from the Dutch instructions that I copied from the developers site.

[quote]Monopoly for Windows! Finally a Monopoly game for Windows, in Dutch and the Dutch streets: the familiar Neude, Bartel and George Street Kalverstraat! You trade with other players, you put down some houses, and occasionally get on Free Parking and you get the money from the pot. ... Or not, because you can decide what "house rules" are used there.

Monopoly 4.0 is written by Leo R. of Parkeerbonnen The game is completely free and available here for nothing. But beware: it is a first version, which means that there maybe a few mistakes in it. I would appreciate it if you wish and findings regarding the program would like to email me.

The game contains the following options:

* Set how many players do with it (2 to 6) and which players played by the computer

* Barter: one of the most complicated aspects of the Monopoly game, but I hope I have a fairly reasonable way to find it on the computer display. Tips on this are very welcome!

* House Rules: you can set a pot, or you pay interest on mortgages and whether your money will double if you land on Go.

* Save games and continue playing later

* Miscellaneous options to the list not to lose in such a complicated game: the property can be displayed on the board, there are statistics kept, which played the speed can be adjusted (from very slow to very fast) and much more.

* Sounds: you hear the game come to life ...</quote]

Reference translated from <a href=" http://home.telfort.nl/sp591024/parkeerbonnen/monopoly.html">HERE

If the game doesn’t work on your system you may require Visual Basic runtime which can be downloaded from Microsofts site or HERE The file automatically installs itself to your system folder

Download:

You can download the game from HERE. Just click on the link at the bottom of the page that says “Klik hier om te downloaden”

I’ll post some images of the game in the morning… 
