Peg, I am glad it was a easy fix for you, computers can be very temperamental sometimes. Dragon is pretty fun, but now I am stuck at leavel 23, I can not seem to get my shooting finger working fast enough, darn free games anyway! LOL
Wolven, AHH, The good old days, my first computer, lost Windows, could not get it back, forced to learn Dos, and scaring myself when I realized I was understanding and liking it. Thank goodness my machine came with the Dos manual. By the way I still have that computer, still use it to play Dos games on it, it is a 386, from Radio Shack.

I'm not sure what to make of the error message, but when playing the dragon you must be prepared for a rough ride. If white goes for the Yugoslav he will play h2-h4 and h4-h5 and exange on g6 to open the h-file for his rook. At some point you may want to consider a rook sac on c3 to weaken his queen-side and exposing his King.

Anyone remember DOS? That message looks like a Win 3.1 stack fault which generally spat out memory access violations. Great that a reinstall was the simple solution.

I hate computers.

I resoved this by uninstalling the program and re-installing it. It now works fine. Don't know what caused the problem in the first place.

It's funny someone found something in this file with their antivirus and they claimed another false positive.

Make sure one of your free games you choose atlantis, it's something like the game from today and has great music. You have to take the quiz after you register, then they will send you a link to your e-mail where you can download and unlock two of any five games. One of them being Atlantis which is pretty much like the game from today. At least it looks like it. I didn't download the game from today, but Atlantis is really fun.

MPeg4, I remember seeing this error before, so I looked up the error, Access Violation (code 0xc0000005) at http://www.updatexp.com, this is what they had on it:
"A Common Cause Of The 0xC0000005 Error:
The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation". This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP Service pack 2, malware/adware installations.
Usually you get this error message when performing a specific task, and if that happens you need to check the corresponding 3rd party's website/support department to see if they are aware of the problem
..a while back Symantec Antivirus caused the 0xC0000005 error with an additional message about a file called SAVRT.SYS . A simple software update to the Symantec Antivirus cured the problem."
They had a couple of more causes for this error, if you care to read about it, the link is: http://www.updatexp.com/0xC0000005.html .
Microsoft has 449 listings for, Access Violation (code 0xc0000005), so it seems it is quite common.
If it is just happening in Dragon, maybe contact their support dep., it will not hurt to try.
